Remember that 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐋𝐮𝐧𝐠, and 𝐋𝐞𝐟𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐲, indicating where the blood flows to when leaving the heart. You can say “Right to Breathe, Left to Relieve” and this can help you remember that the right side directs blood to the lungs.

Also a way to remember the blood comes into the atriums is by saying “𝐈𝐭 𝐀𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐮𝐦” both start with an A, so that’s an easy way to remember it.

𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐲𝐝𝐢𝐨𝐱𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐧𝐞 (PDS) is an 𝐚𝐛𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 material that gradually breaks down in the body, making it ideal for internal suturing where removal is not feasible.

Nylon, silk, and cotton are all 𝐧𝐨𝐧-𝐚𝐛𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 sutures meaning that the strength can last up to several months, and in some cases (like stainless steel), even years! These types of sutures generally need to be removed after a select period of time.

Just a quick reminder about sutures and their size – sutures vary in size based on the UPS scale, from 11-0 (smallest) to 7 (largest). This might sound confusing, but in medicine, we actually would pronounce 11-0 as 11-ought, meaning that the size is 11 zeros (so really really small!), and goes all the way up to size 7. So, what would you think is a bigger size? 2-0 or 2? The answer is 2! Great job!
