One of the first things I like to do when I take on a new client is optimise their presence across all platforms. One of the first things clients like to do is ask me what the heck that means.
Imagine your business is a chain of stores. You'd want people to know that this collection of different stores are actually under the same owners with the same quality products, and you'd do this by branding. Your name, logo, fonts, colour palette, contact information and tone of voice all need to be consistent across platforms so that whether a customer lands on your LinkedIn or your Instagram they immediately know it's your business.
On Instagram, you use your bio to provide essential business information right off the bat. Here should be your USP (unique selling point) and your CTA (call to action), which are key steps in taking a browser to a customer.

Creating content can be exhausting. When you're focused on building your business (or even better, successfully running a busy business) it can be tempting to just push out any content you have laying around just to put something out there, but that can actually be damaging.
If your content isn't interesting to your followers they won't engage, which tells the Instagram algorithm that your page isn't something they want to see anymore and your future posts will get less and less reach. Worse still, your followers you've carefully built up might just decide to unfollow you if you spam their feed with any old trash.
So I have to say it - if you're too busy to create or curate decent content, get a Social Media Manager! Duh!
But if you are doing it yourself, make sure each piece of content fulfills one of these three objectives 🙌

Look, I like the ease of Amazon delivering me a package within 27 minutes of ordering via helicopter and S.W.A.T team as much as the next person, but the reality is that Jeff Bezos couldn't give a sh*t if you order that necklace.
But the 26 year old woman who has just rented her first studio and spends hours handcrafting the perfect delicate chain does.
The 47 year old Mom of 3 who finally decided to start that baking business out of her home kitchen does.
They care, and they need everyday shoppers' support to make it work. Because if everyone sacrifices quality for a smidge of extra convenience then we lose out on handcrafted products arriving beautifully packaged, bustling communities full of boutiques and quirky stores, family ran businesses building something great.
Nah, not for me thanks Jeff. 🤚🤚🤚
