Rhinoclear

Rhinorinse is a pre-made nasal care solution used for rinsing or douching one’s nose. Similar to a Netiopot (which has been around for thousands of years) Rhinorinse is pre-made meaning it is ready for pour-and-go use. No mixing is required and can be used in any nasal rinse device - although we recommend using the Rhinoclear Nasal Rinse Bottle.

2. Nasal rinsing is an important part of keeping your nose and sinuses healthy - like mouth wash for the nose. At Rhinoclear, we believe that everyone should rinse their nose daily to help remove dried mucous, irritants and clear the nasal passages. Nasal rinses can be helpful for anyone with:
Allergies
Asthma
Nasal and sinus congestion
Sinusitis
Colds and upper respiratory tract infections
People exposed to dust, smoke, and pollution
Those living in dry environments
Those recovering from nasal and sinus surgery

3. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF USING RHINORINSE? Compared to nasal rinses that are currently available, Rhinoclear offers several advantages:
The solution is pre-made and this reduces the risk of contamination by using tap water in the nasal rinses which can lead to serious infections. Unlike current nasal rinses that are saline, Rhinorinse is composed of a solution that is more like our body's plasma and sea water and has been shown in clinical studies to be better for your nose than saline. Because the solution is pre-made, people can choose any volume of solution that they want to use for their nasal rinse. This increases the comfort of using the nasal rinse and minimizes the feeling of drowning with less plugging of the ears.
4. We recommend using 100-200 mls of the solution once to twice daily unless told otherwise by your doctor. For general nasal cleansing, most people can use 100 ml once daily.
5. IS USING A NASAL RINSE SAFE? Yes, it is. Nasal rinses have been around for over 5000 years to help clear our nose and sinuses, which are the first line of defence for our respiratory system.
6. HOW IS THE RHINOCLEAR NASAL RINSE BOTTLE DIFFERENT FROM THAN RINSE BOTTLES CURRENTLY AVAILABLE? The biggest difference is the shape. The bottle has small finger grips made to help the user hold the bottle while they GENTLY squeeze. The bottle has an inverted design that allows it to completely empty minimizing wasted rinse solution and lacks an inner cannula or straw (present on other bottles) to draw the solution out of the bottle (which may become contaminated and possibly cause infection).
7. HOW DO I TAKE CARE OF THE BOTTLE? After each use, be sure to rinse the bottle with hot and soapy water. Shake all of the water out of the bottle and leave sit upside down on a hand towel or paper towel. The spout can be rinsed and washed the same way and then place flat on the base to dry (we are working on a stand for the bottle!)
8. HOW OFTEN SHOULD I CHANGE THE RINSE BOTTLE? Although the bottle is designed to minimize contamination and infection, the bottle should be changed at least every 3 months or sooner if you have had a cold. If you change your toothbrush, you should change your rinse bottle!
9. CAN MEDICATIONS BE ADDED TO THE NASAL RINSE? Absolutely! Many physicians will prescribe steroids or antibiotics that can be added to the nasal rinse for treating nasal and sinus conditions and it is safe and effective to add it to Rhinorinse. Be sure to ask your physician or our question portal if you have further questions.

10. WHY WERE RHINOCLEAR AND RHINORINSE STARTED? Rhinoclear was started by Dr. Brad Mechor, an otolaryngologist who specializes in nasal and sinus disease (Rhinology) at the Calgary Sinus Centre. Since 2007, Dr. Mechor has treated thousands of nasal and sinus patients with the main treatment being prescribed as the use of a nasal rinse. Over the years, and having discussed using nasal rinses with patients, many patients complained that they didn’t like the nasal rinse as they often described the feeling of drowning (too much solution) or having plugged ears when using the nasal rinse. Several patients described being “waterboarded” using a nasal rinse! As well, many people found nasal rinses inconvenient to mix and drying for their nasal passages. Seeing that there is a huge benefit of using a daily nasal rinse, Dr. Mechor (or Dr. Brad as many patients call him) asked: “How can we make the rinses better, more convenient and have people use them every day?”

From these questions, asking patients what would make it better and researching what would be better than currently available nasal rinses, Rhinoclear and Rhinorinse were born!

11. WHERE IS RHINORINSE MADE? Rhinorinse is produced in Calgary, Alberta at Rhinoclear Inc. - the largest producer of dialysis solutions in Canada! This facility has an incredible manufacturing infrastructure that can produce some of the cleanest water in the world for making dialysis solution - so much cleaner than using distilled, boiled and cooled water for mixing your nasal rinse! Certainly, if it is clean enough to be put into someone’s body for dialysis, it is more than clean enough for a nasal rinse.
