Aug 03, 2016 - the beginning of our crazy story 💜 our first date was our first meet.

It was one nice summer day. You picked me up in Downtown Calgary, then we went to dinner at the restaurant you chose—so if we didn’t work out, at least you’d still get to enjoy the food. Right after dinner, you took me to your house and introduced me to your three furbabies 🐶. Then we went to the dog park (my first time ever!), and it was so much fun. Ever since that day, we’ve been inseparable. 🥰

Sharing our energy bill from first full summer month with Solar, we’ve got $52 credit. 🥳 Offsets with natural gas so we only paid $35 bill for June

How the billing works with solar is we get different rates for winter and summer. We’re in control when to switch the rates depending on our production.

Winter rate = $0.09 cents per kWh
Summer rate = $0.30 cents per kWh

The energy company pays us $0.30 cents/kWh for the energy we generate and export to the grid.

We in turn, get charged $0.30 cents/kWh if we import electricty from the grid.

That’s why it’s very important that we use major appliances during the day when we’re generating solar power to prevent too much import from the grid.
