Experience Journeys
Our goal is guiding each participant to a journey of larger awareness and compassion within the web of life on Earth. We protect what we love.....
I'm honoured to be collaborating with my treasured friend Daemond Mano from the Yoga & Meditation Centre of Calgary for this 5 day Meditation retreat in Golden B.C. Supported by the natural inhabitants of the Blaeberry river watershed, we will unwind, reconnect and remember our true nature together.
Flowing waters will carry away your worries, trees will teach you to stand strong grounded and rooted, the winds will carry your joy out into the world as birdsong reminds you of the sacredness of the present moment. We would love you to join us! Curious? Please don't hesitate to connect with us.

I saw three robins this morning. It reminded me of this calendar of "natural milestones" I compiled which mark the year for me in our part of the Alberta Foothills. There are a few I should probably add like the skunks starting to roam about mid-march and ice out on the Elbow River in the hamlet about the same time. Any other suggestions?
Happy Spring...I hope it's a wet one!

Happy Earth Day...a day to remember our connection to all live on earth. Essentially all (99.999999995%) of our ancestry on earth is shared with microbes, fungi, sponges, fish, amphibians, reptiles and early mammals. We share important things like mitochondria, skeletons, awareness and emotions with our cousins: from other primates and mammals to now distant cousins such as plankton. We depend on them to survive. Lets recognize our family and take of them like our family. Happy Earth Day!

This is a great action. The Rausch River Valley, near Valemount BC is a beautiful wilderness area and reservoir of temperate rain forest genetics.

Earth hour occurs this evening March 25th 8:30-9:30. Shut off your lights and do something, or plan to do something, for the Earth. Our home is in severe disrepair.
The Biggest Hour for Earth | Earth Hour Since 2007, Earth Hour has been known for the “lights off” moment. But this year, we're stepping things up, breathing new life into our movement & mission.

Happy Vernal Equinox! Here in the northern hemisphere we begin the half of our journey around the sun with 23 degree axial tilt pointed TOWARDS the sun. Our last half was pointed away from the sun...hence winter. We can blame a collision with a Mars sized planetoid 4.5 billion years ago. On the other hand the "Theia Impact" gave us the moon to light our romantic evenings. And speaking of romance, the Vernal Equinox has been celebrated for thousands of years by ancient peoples as a time of fertility, new growth, and planting (in the last 10,000-8000 years). Attached I have a bit of my own "Calendar of events" set into motion by this impact and the effect it has had on the development of life on earth by creating the seasons. I'd be happy to edit it if you have milestones you think should be included. I'm not sure we can get away with adding the romance stuff although with 8 billion of us it is obviously on our minds....all year long. Besides that it's time to plan our excursions to connect with this amazing planet: hiking, camping, canoeing, beaching, and hugging those old trees!

Folks concerned about our ecosystems, and how to protect them for our children and grandchildren, may be familiar with the movement to grant legal rights to natural entities like rivers and forests. Thus when environmental destruction occurs in such a landscape there are immediate consequences and recourse to remediate that landscape. It is a growing movement. The Muteshekau Shipu (Magpie River) in Québec is the first river in Canada to receive legal personhood. Can you imagine Old Growth refugia with such rights?... :)
Here is a story about the movement and it's growth in the United States.
