Spectra Supply was fortunate enough to attend Dream & Build 2026. Three days at BCIT: British Columbia Institute of Technology with tradeswomen from across Canada, put on by Build a Dream. 🙌
Our co-founder, Sally Morse, took the stage and talked about building Spectra from the ground up. Not the polished version of the story — the real one. The abrupt career change, the detours, and what still drives her mission.
We also had Spectra Work Gloves on full display with other women's workwear AWSAM (Alliance of Women's Safety Apparel Manufacturers) brands. One of the highlights of the Friday night was the women's workwear showcase and connecting with the incredible women who inspire us to create gear that actually fits.
Thank you to Build a Dream and BCIT for creating the space and to every tradeswoman who showed up, stopped by, and shared their story. What an inspiring three days!

Most workers put on a pair of gloves at the start of the shift and take them off at the end: one glove, eight to ten hours, everything in between.
The problem is that "everything in between" on a typical Canadian job site is not just one hazard. There could be multiple ones. And the glove that works for one of them is often the wrong choice for the others.
Why does one glove rarely cover an entire shift?

When you start your first year in the trades, nobody gives you a manual for work gloves. You figure it out from the hardware store glove wall, from what your journeyman hands you from a dusty box in the van, or from the internet, which gives you seventeen different opinions and no clear answer.
Meanwhile, first-year apprentices have significantly higher hand injury rates than experienced workers. That's not because they're careless. It's because they haven't learned which risks are real, which gloves are right, and which advice from the veteran crew is outdated.
We have a guide just for you!

On any job site, your hands are exposed to risks—sharp edges, abrasive surfaces, and puncture hazards. While tools and materials may change, one thing remains constant: the need for reliable hand protection.
Not all gloves provide the same level of protection. That’s why ANSI ISEA glove ratings matter. These ratings help ensure your gloves are designed to handle the specific hazards you face every day.
At Spectra Supply, we believe safety starts with knowing what you’re wearing. Our Spectra Glove lineup includes women’s cuts in A5 and A6 and a men’s cut in A4, so you can choose the right protection for the work you do.

Spectra Supply celebrates the growth, resilience, and excellence of women in the construction industry. The women who show up early, stay late, lead teams, solve problems, and quietly (and boldly) raise the standard every single day.
But it’s also a call to action.
To the women building careers, companies, and communities — keep raising the bar.
To the allies standing beside them — keep opening doors, creating opportunities, and challenging the status quo.
Because when women thrive in construction, our industry becomes stronger. Safer. Smarter. More innovative. More inclusive.
Together, we’re not just shaping skylines — we’re shaping a future where excellence has no limits and opportunity has no barriers.
And that’s something worth building
