Thanksgiving weekend is here! All weekend we’re picking pumpkins, squash and hazelnuts! The porch market has pies, cookies, tarts, cider, jam, syrup and honey plus more. And the activities run daily between 10-5. This year has been difficult with less of an apple crop than last year. Our last two varieties are Mutsu and Fuji and they will be ripe and available for upick on Oct 10th. Due to the high volume of ticket sales, we anticipate they will all be picked that day. And that will be a wrap for apple picking this season. We do have a few varieties pre-picked and available in the market. Those include Empire, Cortland and Honeycrisp. Please purchase tickets to the farm on our website. Dixieorchards.com Admission to the farm includes all activities. Any items you pick is an additional fee. Please remember we do not allow bags, purses, coolers, diaper bags, backpacks inside the farm unless it’s clear or a f***y pack size. The farm is closed on October 7th due to the weather forecast. Reopening tomorrow for pumpkin and hazelnut picking. The only remaining day for upick apples is October 10th. We will be picking Mutsu and Fuji that day only. Dixieorchards.com

Apple picking resumes Saturday October 4th & 5th. This year has certainly been a difficult year with limited apples to sell especially compared to the great crop last year. We appreciate your understanding.

We hate to have to post this and be so blunt, but the theft of fruit from Ontario’s “pick-your-own” farms has skyrocketed in recent years. This isn’t a victimless act — these are family-run businesses opening their private land to visitors. When people sneak fruit without paying, it directly harms our members’ ability to pay staff, maintain orchards, and keep prices fair.
