Sitka Fire Protection

Last year I discovered that the Legion sells magnetic poppies that can be affixed to a vehicle, but as I looked at the poppy on my truck today, and was reminded that World War 2 ended 80 years ago, I wonder how many veterans feel let down by the way our world is today.

I went to FireCon 2025 on behalf of Sitka last week - so great to learn, see old friends, and meet new colleagues!

Sitka is looking for a new team member!

If you are a 2nd or 3rd year sprinkler fitter considering in switching to service work, or a junior technician with at least one discipline, we're interested in hearing from you, via a resume.

It was great to see so many people honouring our veterans on Remembrance Days of November 8 and 11. On Sitka vans, we proudly affix poppies. But could we all do more? Two technicians at Sitka are children of men who served their country, leaving home at a young age to fight for democracy including the right to freely and without fear choose our nation’s leaders. Given that voters’ turnout for recent elections has been barely over 50%, this doesn't thank our dads for their commitment to country above themselves nearly enough.

It seems so common sense: smoke alarms in your home, sprinklers in your building - until you realize that cities such as Vancouver only required them after 1991. And despite knowing that, we were still shocked at the amount of damage in the recent Alberni Street fire.

A client asks, the fire alarm panel says something about sprinkler parkade dry low air, is this important? Put simply, YES!! It costs little to call Sitka, but very possibly a lot to ignore this message.

It's been a busy summer and fall, so we're giving our hard-working technicians a few days off with family - Sitka's office will be closed December 25 and 26, and open reduced hours December 27 to 29. We hope all our clients and friends have a wonderful and restful Christmas season!
