Cadex Spectro enclosures in the process of being assembled into a working prototype, colour proofed and nearly ready for production! We test the fit and function of all components of a product thoroughly before approving it for production.

Colour proofing prototypes and material samples is an essential part of the product design process! We use Pantone swatches as the gold standard in colour swatching for accuracy and efficiency when communicating with manufacturers to ensure the best match possible.

An early prototype of the Cadex Spectro EIS Rapid Battery Tester, which was developed and reinvented as an essential Tier 1 diagnostic instrument to be used in factory authorized service centres and dealerships. It combined the client's core technology with function-first industrial design, reflecting its use in a tough, unforgiving, mission-critical environment.

The 1979 Sanyo RP1280 superheterodyne transistor radio, made in Japan. Very small and compact for its day, it has still-modern design features such as injection molded plastics (not Bakelite), very thin brushed aluminum wrap-around faceplate, snap-fit construction and lanyard/wrist strap. It also may have been a rare find for such radios to run from AA batteries instead of the more common 9V.

The Braun KSM2 Type 4041 Aromatic Coffee Grinder. Designed by Dieter Rams in the late 1970s, it is a vintage classic with an elegant, iconic, and instantly recognizable design language for household appliances.
Dieter Rams is perhaps one of the most influential industrial designers of our time—his "less, but better" approach has produced a timeless measure of quality in his products, which is evident in his time spent designing for companies like Braun and Vitsœ.

The HP41C series is an awesome piece of tech history. Launched in 1979 (this is a 1983 model), it was the first of its kind to have alphanumeric entry, along with an expansion capability to add printers and barcode scanners! It was also used on early Space Shuttle missions for critical orbit calculations and as a backup to the main computer.
Most folks today would be challenged to use it because it uses RPN (reverse Polish notation) for formula entry. Still the best feeling tactile keyboard ever built.

Continuing Vintage Product Appreciation Week in our design offices, we are bringing in treasured belongings to enhance our space and inspire our work.
Here we have a mid-century Danish record player console in walnut to go along with a very collectable Marantz Model 2100 tuner.

We're kicking off Vintage Week with a 1950's to 1960′s era film projector: The Bell & Howell 8mm 255 AS Autoload 8mm Projector!
One of its most notable features is its portability—the cast aluminum crackle finish outer shell can be simply attached and detached to protect the projector's delicate parts, and is light enough to be carried with one hand.
Even today it's refreshing to find so much inspiration in the oldies! Oh, it still works and the bulb is bright as ever!
