Unveiled 25 years ago on September 19, 2001, the Terry Fox statue on Simon Fraser University's Burnaby campus is an iconic 9½‑foot bronze monument located in the AQ Garden.

The ceremony brought together Terry’s parents, family members, and the SFU community. Sculptor Stephen Harman and his team dedicated five weeks of 18-hour days to craft the larger‑than‑life piece. The project was supported in part by a generous $20,000 contribution from the SFU Alumni Association.

Working in partnership with Kwikwetlem, Tsleil-Waututh, Squamish and Musqueam Nations and Indigenous members of the university community, SFU is grateful to have received Indigenous names for the Burnaby campus, the First Peoples’ Gathering House and three other locations on campus significant to Indigenous faculty, staff and students.
