This day in history: On July 28, 1958 Terry Fox was born. We miss you Terry!

In 2004, Canadians voted Terry Fox the second Greatest Canadian of all time, after Tommy Douglas, following a nationwide contest organized by CBC (over 1.2 million votes were cast). A 1999 national internet survey named him Canada's greatest hero.

Nishan Randhawa named SFU Women's Wrestling Head Coach; Gord Sturrock appointed Mentor Coach - Simon Fraser University Athletics 07/27/2026

ICYMI: Alumnus Nishan Randhawa has been named the SFU Women's Wrestling Head Coach.

Randhawa wrestled for SFU from 2015 to 2020 and graduated with a Criminology degree in 2021. He has been representing Canada on the international stage for more than a decade.

- Here's a look at the 1965 installation of Burnaby campus's iconic mosaic murals in the AQ!

These double Venetian tile mosaics, simply entitled "Mosaic Mural," were SFU’s first art acquisitions. Each mural consists of approximately 90,000 Venetian tiles.

: July 20, 1966, this is what Burnaby campus looked like less than a year after SFU first opened it's doors. You'll notice the library is missing the top two floors (added 1976) and the iconic Reflection Pond has yet to be built.

Same building, different decades: 1929, 1969-ish, and 1985-ish. While the styles of the cars have changed over the years, the outside of 500 Granville Street has remained mostly the same.

DYK: In 2002, the Segal family generously donated the building—former Bank of Montreal heritage building—to become home for all of SFU’s graduate business programs. It was meticulously restored and expanded to 60,000 square feet, and officially opened on May 5, 2006.
