We’re excited to co-host the Metro Vancouver Labour Day Celebration this year, with our neighbours at New Westminster & District Labour Council!

Join us in Edmonds Park on Monday, September 7th between 11:00am and 2:30pm for a free, fun, family friendly celebration.

There will be exciting speakers (starting at 11:00am), bouncy castles, games and entertainment for kids, live music, free food and treats, union and community organisation booths, and more!

This Friday will mark our 10th annual Bob Derby Memorial Charity Golf Tournament.

The tournament honours the memory of the late Bob Derby, former MoveUP Vice-President, and raises funds for The Union Protein Project and for HeadsUpGuys via The Courtnall Society for Mental Health.

Bob Derby Memorial Charity Golf Tournament – MoveUP MoveUP's annual charity golf tournament is named after former Vice-President, the late Bob Derby. Celebrity guests are a fixture at this event and have included past and former NHL superstars including Kevin Bieksa.

We had a tremendous time on Sunday taking part in the annual Coastal Community Credit Union and Coastal Community Insurance Services staff and family event at Parksville beach.

MoveUP President Annette Toth, Secretary-Treasurer Brenda Chu, Vice-President Christy Slusarenko, and Union Representative Dora Wong were there to interact with our members and their families, as well as connect with our executive councillors and job stewards including Kristin, Marah, and Misty.

Thank you to everyone who came to interact with us and for a fun day out!

Last week, MoveUP Secretary-Treasurer Brenda Chu and Vice-President Christy Slusarenko spent several days in the Nanaimo area, including Gabriola Island, connecting with our members at many different workplaces including the BC Ferry & Marine Workers' Union, BCGEU, IUOE Local 115, ICBC, BC Hydro, and several branch locations of Coastal Community Credit Union and Coastal Community Insurance Services.

During the trip, we were met by several executive councillors and job stewards who helped guide us around their respective workplaces. We were also joined by Union Representative Dora Wong and executive councillors Kristin Hewer and Marah Carnes for visits to several workplaces.

We want to thank all our members for connecting with us during the trip, for telling us about their work and the things they are excited to see our union doing, and we look forward to a return visit in the near future!

While visiting our members in Campbell River last week, MoveUP President Annette Toth had the opportunity to visit the BC Hydro Strathcona Dam construction site! 🦺

Visiting our MoveUP members in Port Hardy, Port McNeil, & Campbell River!🌲

Last week, MoveUP President Annette Toth travelled to North Vancouver Island to meet our Coastal Community Credit Union members working in Port Hardy & Port McNeil. She then went to Campbell River to visit with more of our Coastal Credit Union members, as well as ICBC & BC Hydro members.
