Remember to layer your cyber security strategy. Sooner or later you will need to address risk , mitigate risk, and accept risk. Breaking the bank to get there might be impossible.

With Elon Musk acquiring Twitter and now with eyes on Instagram, if he takes them all private and controls them, then how sure can folks be with what they spend on ads or SEO campaigns. Time to reel those monies back in right now , be less aggressive, until we see how or if the terrain will be different.

Online harassment and false information is common on social media today. Many use these platforms. A bad review can cost business over a competitor. Rumors can ruin reputations. As seen too much can lead to investigation and potentially jail time.

So what do you believe (if anything) online? Can it all be disregarded? Do we trust the media knowing that grants and money can be received by some 3rd party? For me the most convincing answer I can give is I don't know. I don't know what online is true anymore, and what source can be trusted. I think too we are all just about fed up with these silly "fact checkers" that Facebook uses.

Perhaps discussion on points of view will be the future of what makes sense on these platforms, then making it ideal for all voices.

But -- can this be done with grace and respect with opposing viewpoints? Only time will tell I think.

Data forensics - sounds fancy. But really drill down, and all this big fancy terms means is data recovery within a process that returns a result. The "Forensic" side of things is merely that the process is repeatable with the same result.

As data sits in cloud space now, these processes can be hindered. Financially speaking it can be cost prohibited in getting evidence from the Cloud. Sometimes all you will get is the opportunity for a screen capture, so when you do , make sure you are capturing your system clock as well with the date. Back that up with the properties information from your screen capture.

Social media Risks:
Without a doubt commonplace now is ‘I’ve been hacked’ or ‘don’t click on a link from me’ etc.
Understanding that you should be cautious of any link you get within emails or messages, even If on your mobile device or computer, lets understand the real ‘game’ behind all of this.
1 – Profiles on Facebook and Instagram are created with email accounts. So, until tested and challenged just about anyone who makes up an email gets an account.

2 – Your profile picture is there for the taking. So, the bad guy, opens up a free webmail account, and then opens up a Facebook account. By using your profile picture their hope is to then engage your friends and engage them into information giving.

Understand that you have NOT BEEN Hacked necessarily by these means. It is more appropriately a ‘copycat’ account that the person has opened with details from your live and current account.

THE REAL HACK
This happens by commonly infections. This is the link that you clicked on that commonly activates a program and then infects your system. This can be your computer or mobile device. This is the moment of ‘oh no’.

A couple of free tools that I find helpful if your antivirus does not pick anything up is Trend Micro House Call and as well for mobile users Lookout. The program has the green shield in your app store. Both are free for home users and give comprehensive scans and protection to your devices.
