103 full bags! During several FSRT litter clean-up events this spring, our amazing volunteers and partners collected a total of 103 large, full bags of litter, 14 shopping carts, plus misc. scrap metal and large debris items. Our local creek and greenspace habitats are looking much healthier now!

Residents and businesses can play a part in keeping them clean, by picking up litter during the year before it blows into greenspaces, and ensuring your garbage and recycling is secure on windy days.

That's a wrap for our spring season. Thanks again to all our volunteers and sponsors. Stay tuned for more FSRT events later in the year! www.streamrescue.com

Hey FSRT friends! Please join us for our next spring litter clean-up this Saturday, May 2, 9am-noon, in Burlington at Appleby Line north of Dundas. We'll be cleaning the ditch on the east side there, which is a tributary of Sheldon Creek, and a big litter trap for the area. Meet by the Shoppers Drug Mart.

Lots of hands make light work, so we hope to see you there. Details and RSVP link here: https://www.streamrescue.com/upcoming-projects.html

Hey everyone, due to weather, we are rescheduling our Rambo Creek @ 1600 Plains Rd E. litter clean-up to this Sunday instead of Saturday. Sunday, April 26, 9am-noon, is looking much nicer. We hope you can still make it. If not, we still have another clean-up coming up on May 2, in the Alton area of Burlington.

Come out and celebrate Earth Week with us Saturday, April 25th at 9am, by helping out at our next litter clean-up event, where Rambo Creek meets 1600 Plains Rd. E (adjacent to Burlington Hyundai). We'll be cleaning up the short section of creek and eastward along the fence line, which has trapped a bunch of windblown litter.

And, we must take this opportunity to give a GIANT thank you to all our amazing volunteers during this National Volunteer Week -- we couldn't keep our local environment healthy without you!!!

Great teamwork!

That's how you do it! That's how you celebrate Earth Day! Our friends at Hunter Amenities brought their 'A-game' this morning to help FSRT with an overdue clean-up of the Rambo Creek area by Roly Bird Park in Burlington, Ontario, on a beautiful morning. 12 bags of wind-blown and flood-deposited garbage, 2 car batteries (yes, pulled out of the creek water), and some misc. debris were collected.

A special thanks as well to SAIL in Burlington for offering to haul the pile away for us (they've also helped clean the area in the past).

Join us for our next cleanup of Rambo Creek a bit farther south of here at Plains Rd. E., this upcoming Saturday morning. Learn more and RSVP here: https://www.streamrescue.com/upcoming-projects.html

A HUGE thanks to our dedicated FSRT volunteers and local members of the Waterdown community who completed the mammoth task of cleaning a 500m stretch of greenspace on the east side of Avonsyde Blvd., on April 19th. The equivalent of 15 large, full bags of windblown litter were collected, plus 6 bags of clean recyclables. The area looks so much better!!!

We were happy to lend our efforts to the greater Waterdown Spring Community Cleanup this year to tackle this very messy section. Also, a reminder that residents anywhere can help reduce windblown litter on windy days by securing their blue boxes well and waiting until early morning to put them to the curb.

Wow! Our 'season opener' clean-up event yielded 9 full bags of litter collected by hardworking FSRT volunteers on a beautiful Saturday morning. The stormwater pond area by Appleby Line & Dundas St. in Burlington is looking much better, and we like to think the birds watching us work agree! (Trumpeter Swans, Great Blue Heron, Buffleheads, Mallards, Tree Swallows). Thanks to all who participated!

Be sure to join us for our next clean-up event in Waterdown, Sunday, April 19th. See full details and our other scheduled spring events at https://www.streamrescue.com/upcoming-projects.html

A big thanks to all the TD and FSRT volunteers who helped plant 340 native trees/shrubs recently at Sherwood Forest Park in Burlington. The project, funded by TD Tree Days, expands the forest in a new area prepared by the City of Burlington. Plants include a number of berry producers to support birds and other wildlife. Thank you to all involved for making this happen!
