Summers Common Little Free Library

Rainy days make good reading days. It also happens to be Canadian National Independent Bookstore Day. If we're not picking up a book at a Little Free Library, then it's at the bookstore downtown, A Different Drummer Books. A Burlington gem.

Any Carly Fortune fans out there? Summer will be here soon and if you're looking for a beach read, Fortune's One Golden Summer was left by a visitor over the weekend.

With the temperature jumping up to 20 degrees Celsius in Burlington, it's a good day for a walk to a Little Free Library. We've added some new books this week to the library including Donna Tartt's A Secret History. Happy Easter!

Winter storm day in Ontario. If you're out in your snowshoes and need a book to cozy up to, we've got some new ones including The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt. Has anyone read The Goldfinch?

It's a winter wonderland today in Burlington. If you're wanting to snuggle with a good book today, we've got some new ones in the library to choose from.

We've got a few earmarked for our reading list for 2026.

It's a nice summer morning for a walk to a Little Free Library. We've added Mary Lawson's Crow Lake which is one of our favourite novels. A tragic story set in Northern Ontario with rich storytelling and characters. This book is hard to put down. A beautiful read.

Saturday is a great day to visit a Little Free Library. This morning we had two young visitors looking for a book to read this weekend. Happy reading on this hot Saturday!

Little Free Libraries continue to grow in Burlington. It's estimated there are least 113 libraries throughout the city. One that opened earlier this year is a 20 minute walk from ours along Centennial Trail at 523 Wicklow Road. If you're out for a walk or bike ride along the trail, be sure to detour off and check this one out.

Brad has added one his favourite reads of 2025 to the library this morning. Wayne Johnston's memoir, Jennie's Boy, which chronicles his 6 month illness as a child in 1960s Newfoundland. Rich, witty and humorous characters. Jennie's Boy was a 2025 Canada Reads selection and Brad felt it deserved a better showing than it received by the panel of judges.
