Today, John spoke to Brant Business Builders about his experience driving limousines — and the stories were incredible!

Alessio from joined BBB this morning to share his story and expertise.

Originally from Italy, he spoke about his journey to Canada and the growth of his business. Mint Construction specializes in concrete work, landscape maintenance, interlocking pavement, asphalt, and full winter services including salting, grimming, and residential/commercial snow removal.

Alessio also gave us a hands-on look at three types of ice-melting products:
❄️ Rock Salt – effective to about -8°C
❄️ Explosive Salt – a treated salt mixed with chloride and magnesium, working down to -36°C
❄️ Ice Melt (No Salt) – made from beet products; it leaves a strong residual powder that continues working even after the ice crystal’s disappearance

He also spoke about brine, a highly effective liquid de-icer. Alessio produces his own brine, sells it to other contractors, and can deliver orders as needed.

This morning, Derek from Gas Fire Heat joined our group and gave an awesome hands-on presentation!

He brought in parts from an old furnace to show us how it works, explained why regular maintenance is so important, and broke down the pros and cons of using a smart thermostat.
