Cloth Hall
Purveyors of vintage cloth, fabric, textile. sewing notions & supplies, passementarie, and costumes
We are Vintage Textile Traders, searching as far, high and low for quality vintage fabrics, notions, sewing supplies and tools to make the perfect reproduction clothing you've always wanted. Historic, natural fibre fabrics is our main focus, but unique and hard to find synthetics do come our way as well. This is like an ongoing fabric garage sale - we will take in uncut, clean fabrics and supplies you no longer want, in trade for something we already have, or cash purchase will be considered.
Hello! Looks like I am making a trip to Ottawa this weekend. I can deliver fabric!
I am debating applying for the Toronto Vintage clothing show. By then hopefully my knee will be functional. Id be the only dedicated fabric seller. Really pricey booths though, yikes.

Linen has arrived! A big box of cool white loveliness!
My geeky little heart pulled out all of my technical stuff, including a recently acquired wifi microscope.
First impressions:
Sheeting is a little rougher, tight but not super tight weave. I think it'll keep more of it's body by virtue of the heavier yarn it's woven with. I think it will soften, but should still be outer layer wear.
The coloured stripes will make a sweet shirt or skirt! It's smoother than the 260 cm, slightly finer yarn, higher weave. I think it will hold it's body after washing so structured clothing will work.
The patterned damask is softer even without washing. The pattern is very subtle at this size. At a guess, it looks to be fruit and stems with leaves. It may appear more complete once seen in its full width. This would make cozy clothing.
Damask stripes are really nice. This will soften nicely as well, the satin weave is dense with a loose weave across the transition line.
I have stitched 2 inch squares on everything and will toss everything in for a good hot wash and see what shrinkage looks like and how much the damask weaves pop.
Hopefully the photos tell you everything you need. Well, except price. Price is still dependent on how I am bringing it in, but assuming all will be equal, it'll be in line with my usual prices.
Although my knee isn't substantially improved, I should be able to get the silk cut in about a week. I have the list written down, please watch for a message from me to confirm you still want it, yardage and payment arrangements.
I have a possible lead on woven stripes, off white/white sheeting weight linen for a very decent price. Would anyone be interested?
Same lead also has queen sheet width white linen, a monster 260 cm wide. I have ordered this for myself to test the quality. Assuming it meets my expectations, anyone interested in this as well? Sheeting weight would make lovely, durable, outer tunics, pelisses or dresses, even a sturdy gentleman's coat and trousers. And being white, it need not stay white if you want another colour.

A note to those that have their names on the silk-
I wrecked my knee not long after and I haven't been able to get it cut. I've been stuck in bed and working from home for my day job. It really sucks, I've had to back out of two selling dates because of this.
I have everyone's names and yardage written out, as soon as I can stand ill get it cut and message you for payment.

Edit: I will be cutting tonight, I hazard this is sold out. I'll go in order of post until it's gone. I'll message you with your fabric amount and shipping arrangements.
.. just scored 33 yd of this stuff. Silk, burn tested, embroidered, not printed. Buttery yellow to match the solar event.
All for sale. Well. I'll likely keep 2-3 to fix a quilt.

Black Cat on white Egyptian Cotton.
So i seriously upped my ironing game. I scored a Reliable self heating and vacuum ironing board that is brand new $900. Yes, 900 for an ironing board. It almost does the ironing for you. I nabbed it for 170. Eeeeee!
That means i have a longer but narrower board available. I bought the long one new this year, but will need a cover and pad. Easy enough to make one but this is a standard size so shouldn't be hard to get.
Anyone want it?

Speaking of more fabric ..
Because I can't control myself. ..
Two new satin acquisitions. That is more emerald than blue. Damn phone doesn't read well, but lovely pic in the natural sun. Has a real vintage vibe, seeing a 30s bias dress made out of it. The black will contrast well with my matte interfacing backed satin, for anyone wanting to make an epic mourning gown. Going up for sale as soon as i can get it posted.
I'd like to crowd source some opinions. I'm looking at some sales options for this year, and would like some ideas on where I could take my fabrics for sale. I've had varied success at historic costume events, did a local LARP event and a stash swap/sale, the latter were total flops.
I'm considering the Toronto vintage show, but the tables are expensive. I'd like to find an event like the Christie antique show - I'm crushed to hear Hamilton has shut that event down for good. There isn't a costume con planned in Canada for the known future. I'm not sure if any of the regional fan cons would find a fabric seller of use. I remember Toronto having a leather hide seller as a vendor for a year or two.
It's a bit difficult to curate my inventory based on the event theme so it's a bit of an all or nothing kind of intent. I don't mind packing up to travel, but i need to break even if i am hauling all or even part of my inventory.
I'm looking to sell my house and move in the coming year, so i really want to reduce the amount i have. As it is, fabric finds me so im never long low on stock. I need to have a day job to support the fabric fosterage, this house is a constant job in itself with all its problems. I want to properly photograph my inventory, but that takes time, as does uploading and maintaining the inventory online. Fabric is something I personally would rather shop for in person.
What are events that will hit enough people for location and intent to attend that I could enquire for vending?
