The YWCA Women of Distinction Awards took place at the WMCA on April 15th, and it was a standout night for the community. The ceremony put a much-needed spotlight on the achievements of women who are doing the work and leading the way in so many different fields.

Recognizing these individuals is about more than just the awards—it's about the path they’ve carved out and the example they’re setting for the next generation. It was great to see their contributions get the recognition they deserve.

On April 16, business and community leaders gathered at the Keystone Centre for the annual State of the City Luncheon.

Mayor Jeff Fawcett delivered his 2026 address, highlighting Brandon’s recent progress in economic performance, public safety, and infrastructure. Key topics included the "Grow Brandon" initiative, housing developments, and the significant opportunities ahead with the expansion at CFB Shilo.
