LITGROUPS is part of Westman Youth For Christ, where “We believe in a community of hope where no young person has to go hungry – physically, emotionally, relationally or spiritually.” Within that vision, LITGROUPS exist to facilitate literary competence and excellence in the youth of Brandon through caring relationships and community partnerships.

Last week we celebrated our final week of LITGROUPS for the summer! At both locations our theme was plants and gardening this week. Between planting canola seeds, transplanting basil, visiting a greenhouse, and celebrating our last day of camp, we certainly kept our hands busy! 🪴🌺

Week 6: 7 world wonders 🌎💭
The second last week of summer was filled with books, colouring, and smiles. Can’t believe we only have one week of LITGROUPS summer camps left!

Big smiles for week 5!
This week we tackled cupcake creations, decadent desert pizza, creative cookie decorations and more during our afternoons at green acres community center!
In the mornings we channeled our inner actor/actress and learned more about the world of musical theatre and movie making. We even performed our own skits we created, complete with costume designs and everything!

Week 4: science rules!!🤓🧠🧪
In the mornings we tackled science experiments involving slime making, static electricity, and invisible ink.
In the afternoons we learned about the brain! This involved learning about the different parts of the brain and what they are used for, like balance, judgment skills, and memory. We also learned how goofy movies like “inside out” are actually deeply rooted in real psychological concepts! Pretty cool week for LITGROUPS 😎

LITGROUPS Week 3:
-last week our theme was biomes in the morning. This included a nature forest trail, predator vs prey tag, and much more!
-in the afternoons we put on our thinking camps for experiments extravaganza week. We made slime, and learned about some of the world’s most famous scientists!

LITGROUPS summer camp week 2: A very busy bunch!
At 10th street our theme was baking! We got our hands full of cupcakes, icing, cookie decorating, and more! When we weren’t making delicious treats, we were jamming out to our favorite tunes.
In the afternoons, we had some serious DRAMA! 🎭 we put our thinking caps on to learn about acting, musical theatre, and film making. We designed our own scripts throughout the week, and even got to film it, practicing our acting abilities, costume design, and video editing skills!
