It is encouraging to see Manitoba continue to demonstrate its strong support for Ukraine and the Ukrainian community. Manitoba has welcomed thousands of Ukrainians since 2022, many of whom have built their lives here, joined the workforce, started businesses, paid taxes, and contributed to communities across the province.

We hope Manitoba will continue to explore pathways that allow Ukrainians who have established themselves in the province to remain permanently and continue contributing to Manitoba's economic growth and long-term success. 🇨🇦🇺🇦

"Premier Wab Kinew welcomed Andrii Plakhotniuk, ambassador of Ukraine to Canada, today following the Manitoba government’s commitment to donate heavy machinery to Ukraine.

“Our province has always had a strong connection to Ukraine,” said Kinew. “When we get the chance to discuss how we can continue to work with each other in the future and strengthen our relationship, we seize that opportunity.”

The meeting follows an agreement signed by the Manitoba government and the Kherson Regional Military (State) Administration of Ukraine, in June 2025. The agreement commits both parties to work together in key areas such as agriculture, economic development, education, health care, sport and culture, and environmental sustainability.

The Manitoba government has committed to donating two graders to Kherson, essential for rebuilding and maintaining roads and preparing land for infrastructure projects. The graders will support ongoing repair efforts as the region recovers from the Russian occupation.

“Manitoba is home to a vibrant Ukrainian community and culture that we cherish,” said Kinew. “The agreement we signed builds on the Ukrainian influence that runs so deeply in our province and shows our commitment to nurturing this relationship and supporting Ukraine in these trying times.”

Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, more than 30,000 Ukrainians have arrived in Manitoba. The Manitoba government has provided refugees with a full range of supports, including housing, health care, education, social assistance, language services and employment assistance.

🚨 One of the biggest mistakes I see newcomers make is believing their English is not good enough.

Because of that belief, they avoid opportunities. 🚪

They don't apply for better jobs 💼, they don't ask for promotions 📈, they don't apply for supervisor or management positions 👔, and they stay in the same role for years.

The problem is that English improves fastest when you put yourself in situations where you have to use it. 🗣️ The workplace is one of the best classrooms you will ever have. 🎓

Many people also focus only on finding any job instead of building a career. 🏗️ They don't look at which occupations are in demand 📊, which positions offer career growth 📈, or which jobs can lead to stronger immigration opportunities. 🇨🇦

The people who succeed are often not the ones with perfect English. They are the ones willing to try. 💪

They apply for the job 📄. They attend the interview 🤝. They ask for the promotion ⬆️. They take on more responsibility ⭐.

Every promotion, every new skill 🛠️, and every step forward 🚶‍➡️ can improve not only your career but also your future immigration options in Canada. 🇨🇦🍁

Don't wait until your English is perfect.

🚀 Growth happens when you challenge yourself.

❌ THE UNEXPECTED CANCELLATION Effective immediately, Manitoba has officially retired the Career Employment Pathway (CEP) under the International Education Stream. The pathway that allowed you to graduate, grab an in-demand job offer, and immediately apply for PR is gone.

🔄 WHERE DO STUDENTS GO NOW? All graduates must now transition to the Skilled Worker in Manitoba pathway.

💼 DO NOT RISK YOUR OPPORTUNITY 💼

If you receive a Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA), the absolute worst thing you can do is risk your future on a DIY mistake. One wrong box checked can result in a refusal or a costly delay.

We are here to help you navigate this transition.

Let a professional handle the stress. We will help you submit a strong application at both the provincial and federal levels.

Compulsory Trades in Manitoba May Give You an Additional 100 Points

If you work in a compulsory trade in Manitoba, there is an important immigration benefit that many applicants overlook.

Under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), individuals working in eligible compulsory trades who hold the required trade certification may receive an additional 100 points toward their Expression of Interest (EOI) score.

An extra 100 points can significantly strengthen your profile and improve your chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply.

Some of Manitoba's compulsory trades include:

✔️ Construction Electrician
✔️ Industrial Electrician
✔️ Crane and Hoisting Equipment Operator
✔️ Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic
✔️ Sprinkler Fitter
✔️ Steamfitter-Pipefitter
✔️ Hairstylist
✔️ Electrologist
✔️ Esthetician

Many skilled workers focus on improving language scores or gaining additional work experience, while overlooking the value of obtaining the proper Manitoba trade certification. In some cases, becoming certified can provide both better employment opportunities and a stronger immigration profile.

Immigration planning is not only about where you are today—it is also about identifying opportunities that can increase your competitiveness tomorrow.

If you are working in a skilled trade in Manitoba, it may be worth exploring whether your occupation is designated as a compulsory trade and whether obtaining certification could benefit your immigration journey.
