Welcome to Drawing House ✏️

Part art school, part art supply shop, part “oops we talked about pencils for 40 minutes again.”

We offer classes for kids, teens, and adults in drawing, painting, cartooning, anime & manga, life drawing, portfolio prep, and more, all taught by working artists who genuinely love what they do.

More than anything, we’re community-centered. Barrie’s art scene is packed with kind, talented, wildly creative people, and we’re lucky to be a little house where they all collide 🎨

Summer at Drawing House is shaping up to be a sketchbook-stuffed, paint-splattered, imagination-powered adventure

From designing original characters to painting, illustration, sketchbook adventures, and creative experiments with new materials, our week-long camps and workshops are built for kids and youth who love to make things with their hands and imagination.

Each week brings a different creative world to jump into:

🎨 Youth Painting Workshop
🌈 Kids Painting Workshop

Students will learn new techniques, explore different media, build confidence in their ideas, and head home with projects they’ll actually be proud to show off instead of mysteriously “forgetting” at the bottom of a backpack.

Where sketchbooks open and strangers become studio-mates!

Drawing House is a cozy little hub for curious hands and creative minds, tucked inside an old-style home and quietly humming with pencils, paint, and good company. Whether you’re picking up a pencil for the first time or returning to it like an old friend, there’s a seat for you here. Classes, supplies, and a space that feels easy to walk into and hard to leave.

Picture your Saturday like this: A quiet room. Soft light. The slow rhythm of charcoal on paper or perhaps the mischievous strokes of watercolour.

Our uninstructed life drawing sessions are a chance to unplug and settle into the moment. No pressure, no critiques, just you, your materials, and the human form in front of you. Whether you’re sketching, painting, or simply observing, it’s a deeply calming way to reconnect with your practice and let your hand move freely.

Some days you sketch first, whispering your way into the image…
Other days you charge in with a brush and let the paint make the decisions 🎨
Drawing & Painting is both worlds in one studio.
Careful line → luminous washes.
Or straight into colour → bold, intuitive strokes.
We’ll play with watercolour, flirt with gouache, and bring in pen & ink when the mood calls for it. Structured when you want it. Loose when you need it. Always a little bit magic.
Materials are on us for week one, then you’ll build your own kit (we’ll guide you, no guesswork).
