The National Nuclear Security Administration operates some of the most demanding airborne missions in the United States through its Aerial Measuring System (AMS). These missions require rapid deployment, precise flight ex*****on, and reliable data collection in high-pressure environments.
To meet these demands, operators rely on advanced guidance and mapping solutions to maintain accuracy at every stage of the mission.
With Ag-Nav systems onboard, crews are equipped with:
- Real-time moving maps for complete situational awareness
- Accurate flight line guidance for consistent, repeatable coverage
- Terrain and obstacle awareness for safe low-level operations
- Seamless data integration for efficient post-mission analysis
At industry events like VERTICON (formerly HAI Heli-Expo), aircraft configured for specialized aerial missions have been showcased with mission ready equipment installed.
These configurations highlight how integrated Ag-Nav navigation and mapping systems support:
- Structured flight patterns
- Precision survey ex*****on
- Real-time operational awareness
Ag-Nav enables flight crews to execute structured survey grids with confidence, ensuring full coverage and dependable results. The outcome is fast, accurate geospatial data that supports critical response and decision making.
When precision matters most, Ag-Nav delivers.

π² CASE STUDY: Aerial Pine Seeding for Forest Restoration π
Precision Forestry in Northwestern Ontario
With catastrophic wildfires affecting forests across Canada, the United States, and Australia, forest protection and restoration have become critical priorities. Millions of hectares have been lost, along with wildlife habitat, homes, and vital ecosystems. Reforestation plays a key role in restoring ecological balance, and aerial application has proven to be one of the most effective methods for large-scale forest management.
In early 2019, an aerial operator was awarded a contract to seed 1,164 hectares (4,657 acres) of pine forest in Northwestern Ontario. Planning began in March, with seeding completed in April.
The Challenge
The project required an extremely low application rate of only 75 to 125 grams of seed per hectare. Traditional gravity-fed systems rely on fixed or***ce plates that must be recalibrated every time the rate changes and assume a constant aircraft speed. In real-world conditions, wind and terrain make this difficult, leading to inconsistent application.
Additional challenges included:
β’ No real-time measurement of seed output during flight
β’ Seed flow changing as hopper levels dropped
β’ Limited control when flying over canopy with unclear boundaries
At these low rates, even small variations could result in significant errors.
The Solution
To improve accuracy and control, a granular flow control system was adapted for pine seeding. While commonly used for mosquito control, the system required extensive modification to handle ultra-low seed rates.
Improvements included:
β’ Redesigning the impeller to reduce seed output per rotation
β’ Increasing motor resolution for smoother low-speed operation
β’ Fine tuning control algorithms for stable performance at low RPM
β’ Updating guidance software to allow application rates to be entered and displayed in grams
β’ Enabling automatic on and off control at treatment boundaries
These changes allowed seed flow to automatically adjust based on aircraft speed, ensuring consistent application across the entire treatment area.
Field Performance
The system was installed on dual granular tanks and ca

Big news from NAAA 2025! π iFly EFB & KAWAK announcement!
Ag-Nav and Adventure Pilot have officially teamed up to bring iFly EFB directly into our all-new Titanium System.
Pilots can now launch the full iFly EFB app right from the Titanium interface for cross-country navigation, routing to jobs, loading complex flight plans, and switching back to application mode with a single tap. Professional-grade situational awareness and mission control, all in one place.
This integration brings real-time weather, traffic, and advanced navigation tools trusted by thousands of pilots worldwide, now built directly into the Titanium platform. It saves cockpit space, reduces equipment costs, and simplifies every workflow.
Plus: the Titanium will support two screen sizes at the same price, compatible with both Guia and Platinum mounts.
And thatβs not all.
We also introduced our new 0β5V motor controller, giving Ag-Nav systems seamless control of the KAWAK electric motor and other electric motor setups.
