Our volunteers are the heart and soul of the Barrie Good Food Box. With enthusiasm, elbow grease and great attitudes our volunteers processed 575 bags of delicious and nutrient-dense veggies and fruits for our loyal community. Thanks to all who ordered a box. We are grateful to our community partners who deliver the boxes where they are needed most. What a dream team! Let's do it all again on July 8!

Barrie Good Food Box recognizes and thanks Sky, who is a vital part of our pack day team. Each month Sky volunteers her time and energy from 9am to 6pm doing a variety of tasks; unloading the truck; packing and arranging bags; facilitating deliveries; disassembling and cleaning; and greeting customers with kindness and enthusiasm. She carts hundreds of orders to load into customer's vehicles while maintaining a positive attitude and team work approach. Her presence at pack day lifts everyone's spirits and we love her willingness to help and guide anyone.

"I learned about The Barrie Good Food Box through my participation in the Empower Simcoe Job Readiness program. I enjoy helping others, so I kept on volunteering. It’s a mixture of unloading the truck, packing the bags, and customer service. I also volunteer at Furry Friends cat rescue. I am a Beaver Leader, and I coach Special Olympics Floor Hockey.”

There are over 75 volunteers who dedicate their time, energy and care to ensure that every Good Food Box is prepared with dignity and kindness. Whether the volunteers are unloading thousands of pounds of produce from the truck, packing hundreds of bags, moving and delivering bags, or greeting folks who are picking up orders, their efforts create a welcoming space where people feel supported and valued. The volunteers' commitment goes beyond simply providing affordable food, they help to build a strong, more connected community.
