On this day, 169 years ago, Albertaโs first Premier, Alexander Cameron Rutherford, was born (Feb 2, 1857)
Shown here is an official portrait of Rutherford, with Rutherford Cottage in Banff in the background โ a place he used as a retreat, where he spent time resting and enjoying the Bow Valley with his family.
Today, we remember his contributions to Alberta, education, and Canadian history.
