Members have a strong interest in promoting growth in Essa’s commercial and industrial sectors while also supporting existing business. Tourism, education, social services are also a large concern of the committee. The ED committee plans the Essa Riverbank Salmon Derby and the distribution of the revenue from it. The Essa EDC office (opened since 2000) in the Angus Arena is closed for good. That office space may be turned into a office for Parks and Recreation in the future. The Economic Development Committee is still in operation with the following members...Sandie Macdonald, Chairperson, Bill Forsyth, Jim Hunter, Julia Smith, Susan Makepeace, Members and Colleen Healey as Staff Support.
