Ancaster Fair
Join us for the 175th Annual Ancaster Fair
Sept 18-21, 2025. The Ancaster Fair is the 3rd weekend after Labour Day each year.
The rest of the year the Fairgrounds are available to rent.
💜 While Marritt Hall isn't physically illuminated this year, we're joining the Lit Up for Lipedema campaign by turning our support purple in recognition of Lipedema Awareness Day.
More than 85 landmarks across Canada will shine purple to raise awareness of lipedema, a chronic and often painful disease that affects as many as one in nine women and those assigned female at birth.
Lipedema causes an abnormal buildup of fat tissue, most often in the legs and arms, and can lead to pain, swelling, heaviness, and reduced mobility. Despite how common it may be, many people living with lipedema are told their symptoms are simply the result of obesity, diet, or lifestyle choices.
Awareness matters because understanding leads to recognition, compassion, and earlier diagnosis. Sometimes, simply learning that lipedema exists can help someone realize that what they've been experiencing has a name.
Today, we stand in purple in support of everyone affected by lipedema. 💜

The Ancaster Fair may be what we're best known for, but it's only part of our story.
For generations, the Ancaster Agricultural Society has been connecting people to agriculture, preserving rural traditions, and creating opportunities for our community to gather, learn, and grow.
We open our doors to weddings and celebrations, horse shows and agricultural events. We inspire curiosity through education programs and summer camps. We invest in tomorrow's leaders through scholarships and volunteer opportunities. We provide a place where neighbours become friends, traditions are passed down, and new memories are made.
Because this place is more than a fair. More than an event venue.
It's community. It's education. It's heritage. It's opportunity.
It's where tradition grows stronger.

It is with profound sadness that we remember Life Member Raymond Wilson, who passed away on May 24, 2026.
Raymond's connection to the Ancaster Agricultural Society spanned decades. A Past President, dedicated Director, committee member, exhibitor, volunteer, mentor, and friend, he devoted countless hours to supporting agriculture, the Ancaster Fair, and the people who make our community strong.
A passionate advocate for youth, Raymond believed deeply in encouraging the next generation. Through his lifelong commitment to 4-H, sponsorship of youth competitions, and willingness to share his knowledge, he helped shape the lives of countless young people across our region.
Those who knew Raymond will remember not only his wisdom and dedication, but also his infectious laugh, his wonderful singing voice, and the remarkable depth of knowledge he carried about agriculture, our Society, and the history of the Ancaster community. His steady presence, practical insight, and quiet support will be greatly missed.
Our sincere condolences are extended to Raymond's family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by his generosity and friendship.
A celebration of Raymond's life will follow the funeral service on Monday, June 1, at the Ancaster Fairgrounds in Marritt Hall.
Thank you, Raymond, for everything you gave to our Society, our community, and our youth.

Happy Victoria Day from the Ancaster Agricultural Society 🌷
Victoria Day celebrates the birthday of Queen Victoria, who was born on May 24, 1819. After Confederation, the holiday became an official celebration across Canada and has remained a Canadian tradition ever since.
But why do so many Canadians call it “May 2-4” when it rarely actually falls on May 24th?
The holiday is celebrated on the Monday before May 25, meaning it can land anywhere from May 18–24. Over time, “May 2-4” became the nickname for the long weekend, partly because of the date, and partly because a case of beer contains 24 bottles. 🍁
For many Canadians, Victoria Day weekend marks the unofficial start of summer:
🌱 Gardens get planted
🚜 Fields are busy
🏕️ Campgrounds open
🔥 BBQs are fired up
However you spend the long weekend, we hope it’s filled with sunshine, fresh air, and good company.
Happy Victoria Day & Happy May 2-4!
