Time for another meet our members Monday.

Name: Mark Krahn
Position: Deputy Chief
Years served: 27!
Employer: Greenvalley Equipment Inc.

Mark joined ARES because he enjoys helping those who are in need and believes that it is imporant to give back to the community. His other community involvements include sitting on the executive for Altona Bisons Baseball as well as serving as a school trustee.
Mark and his wife Sharlene have three boys all of whom joined ARES when they turned 18.

Time for another meet our members Monday.

Name: Adam Skelton
Position: Firefighter and first aid instructor.
Years served: 6 as a firefighter 2 as a cadet
Employer: Elmer's Manufacturing

Adam enjoys camping and hiking with his wife. He enjoys racing motocross and growing in his relationship with God.

Adam enjoys working with teams and joined the Fire Department as he saw it as a great opportunity to help others and serve his community.

At 5:26am ARES was paged to a structure fire in Altona. When crews arrived on scene we found the fire had made its was from an exterior wall into attic. Crews were able to extinguish the fire.

While on this scene we were paged to another address for reports of a commercial alarm. Upon investigation it was determined that a water leak caused the sensor to go off.

The responding crew was able to quickly rejoin the others at the original scene.

There were no injuries at any scene.

At 10:45am ARES was paged to a structure fire in the RM of Rhineland. When we arrived on scene we found a barn/workshop and 2 other smaller sheds on fire. Crews were able to extinguish the fires quickly. Thank you to Winkler Fire for sending their water tanker to help with water supply.

On national police officers week ARES members would like to acknowledge the hard working men and women of the Altona Police Service and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. We are grateful for all officers who serve and risk their lives to keep our communities safe. We acknowledge the great working relationship we have with both Altona Police and the RCMP and are grateful for the partnership between Police and Fire to keep our communities safe.

Johnny is married with 3 kids and enjoys playing hockey in his spare time.

As a kid Johnny dreamed of becoming a firefighter so as an adult he decided to make that dream come true. Johnny enjoys working alongside the rest of the department members and is grateful for opportunities to give back to the community.

At 10:40am ARES was paged to a fire located in the kitchen of a commercial building. Although there was damage to the kitchen, the fire was quickly extinguished and there were no injuries.
