Consent is important! At Shift Yoga Collective we do our best to create a safe space for our community to enjoy, and part of that is making it easy for our clients to communicate their boundaries. When you sign in to any of our classes you will have an opportunity to pick one of these rocks to place beside your mat for the duration of your session. If you chose to place it with the design face up, you will let the instructor know that you’re open to hands on adjustments and conversely face down will mean you’d rather not receive any for the day. We will be releasing our full karma class schedule for the month of December shortly. These classes will be a variety of styles but will require a minimum $10 cash donation, 100% of which will go to the @guelphfoodbank right before Christmas. We hope to see you all soon and welcome you into our little community.

A couple moments from our last month in our beautiful new home. Though moving is always difficult, it has been 100% worth it. Life has been coming together beautifully and we have some big things coming up in the next couple of months. Looking forward to sharing with everyone soon!

Motherhood changes you.
It takes you.
It stripes you to your most raw form.
It rippes everything you thought you knew about yourself away.
And it births you into someone you never knew you could be.
It is an incredible experience.
But it is also a jarring experience.

Something that has helped me infinitely on my journey to reconnect with myself has been the incorporation of products into my self care regime. This is something I have not been ready to talk about, but I feel there is no better time than now to share my story:

I will never forget my 27th birthday. Not because it was beautiful or memorable in the way you hope it will be, but because it was the day I found out I was experiencing an ectopic pregnancy. I knew something was wrong because I was in excruciating pain, and when I say that I mean it genuinely. I delivered my son un-medicated and this pain was comparable to the mid stage labour. After 6 hours of sitting in an ER I was told that I had a number of rupturing ovarian cysts and a fetus in my fallopian tube putting an immense amount of strain on my reproductive organs. The following day I got an abortion via recieving a large dose of methotrexate (chemo) to dissolve fertilized egg. It was awful, and devastating, and I wouldn't wish that experience on anyone. The reality is however, that had I not had access to an abortion I would have lost an o***y and maybe even my life.

This is not ok. You are stripping women of access to fundamental health care regardless of the reason they may chose to recieve it. No one has an abortion for fun. This is a last resort option that ANYONE should be able to chose for themselves.

To the boy that made me a momma:

I can't quite express how much you mean to me.
It's this feeling of overwhelming joy when you smile at me.
The way my heart melts when you wrap your tiny arms around my neck, or blow me a kiss.
The pride I feel exploding out of my chest when you learn something new.
I have never known a more beautiful (and difficult) experience than being your momma. I love you forever.

When I say Namasté, I am not just saying hello. I am addressing you with the highest regard of care and respect. I am acknowledging that the light of the universe resides within you, the same as it does within me. I am am trying to communicate that we are one, and I honor that wholeness we share together. So next time you hear me say Namasté, please accept that I do not say so lightly.

Today was serendipitous. The stars aligned and so many amazing things happened with ease. Their was no real trying. Everything came effortlessly and worked out better than I could have asked for. I'm not sure why some days are like this, but wow, I wish they could all be this smooth.
1) We found a work away host in Bocas Del Toro who is away the dates we are their and was already searching for someone to house sit. She is as excited as we are to have someone taking care of her home.
2) I got a ride to my family Christmas party (this one may not seem cool but it made me happy).
3) Vista Print gave me a credit for the full amount of my last order, without me even asking.
Though none of these things are mind blowing, they were exceptionally nice. Life is hard and you have to recognize ease whenever it should arise.
