Five years in the making and this little non-profit-that-could, has reached the finish line. Ed Eggerer Athletic Park is now home to Alberta’s best in class artificially turfed field. As a city, the field now makes us eligible to host provincial, national, and international events and organizations as mainstream as the Football Canada, Rugby Canada, and FIFA.

We’d like to thank the City of Airdrie for partnering with us to make this dream a reality, and to all our followers, supporters, and benefactors who helped us raise money for the initial feasibility study. Without your help, we would not have been able to set this pendulum in motion.

Tonight, the brand new turfed field will host its first of many Friday Night Lights games. If you are in and around Airdrie today, we encourage you to stop by the field and experience the atmosphere that comes with a field of dreams.

Thank you for believing in us, Airdrie. We hope you enjoy it!

Thank you Rockyview Aerials for the amazing video!

It’s been a long time coming but it’s here. The grass field at Ed Eggerer Athletic Park has been overturned in preparation for the new turf installation.

It was only 5 years ago that the Airdrie Turf Field Project Society met with a plan to raise the initial $45,000. We had only planned to cover the feasibility study in what felt like a pipe dream to this moment: a world class turfed field with the capability to host professional sports and events.

I would like to thank the dedicated members of ATFP and all of its supporters that made this possible. All of the late nights have helped make my dream a reality.

For anyone with what feels like a pipe dream, this is proof that with the right people and heart, anything is possible.

Construction of Airdrie’s new artificial turf field at Ed Eggerer Athletic Park officially kicked off yesterday! Approved in July of last year, the conversion of the natural playing surface to a synthetic turf is more efficient than starting from scratch because of the park’s existing infrastructure such as bleachers, washrooms and parking.

The athletic park and outdoor running track are temporarily closed to public access for the duration of construction, as is the Genesis Place north arena’s parking lot. East Lake Regional Park pathway access is not expected to be impacted and those wanting to visit the regional park can still access it via parking lots located along East Lake Road NE.

The artificial turf field is scheduled to reopen in early-September and will serve as a regional home field for Airdrie and north Rocky View County sports groups, including football, soccer and rugby, in addition to hosting tournaments and school activities.
