Huge congratulations to all the teams that paddled the 2024 Muskoka River X, especially to "Braul X Black Bellows Racing" and "Anything for a Beer" for making it to the podium in their Kisseynew canoes! We're so grateful to have such talented paddlers choosing our canoes. Your dedication and skill inspire us!

Last week, Julia and I beat our own unsupported “expedition-style” record again on the 422km Meanest Link route in Algonquin Park (without support crews, food drops or help on route) in a new time of 4 days, 11 hours and 54 minutes! This was our 4th trip around the Link, beating our own unsupported FKT in 2022 by 20 hours, unsupported FKT in 2021 by 33 hours, and our previous unsupported FKT to that in 2020 by 47 hours! We filmed this trip too, which will eventually become its own series.

It took a lot of patience to get back to this point - last year was a quiet year for us. Julia was hit by a distracted driver in the spring of 2023, suffering a concussion that saw her take much of last year off. A lot of rehabilitation and hard work went into getting back to this point, but she’s now the strongest she’s ever been. Weekly training for this year’s began in December, getting up to 202km of running per week, with a lot more long endurance paddling sessions. Training almost every day for the past 7 months allowed us to put in some back-to-back 100km days out there on the Link, which was a blast! We paddled the route in our phenomenal 18’ full carbon fibre Kisiskâciwan (SK2) that we purchased from the @KisseynewCanoe Company in Saskatchewan - it’s an incredible boat, and a joy to paddle out there!

I can navigate the entire route by sight now and love capturing it differently each time. We might do the route without camera gear some day… but I cherish the moments caught on camera out there, where I’ve experienced some of the happiest and most profound moments of my life. I’m still working on the doc about the first two trips - time’s just been tight between balancing family, work, and training. I’d like to say the doc will be out soon, but it’ll be ready when it’s ready.

A quick word on safety - the Link is a challenging route that requires lining up through class 3 rapids in remote areas that are very hard to get to. Experienced paddlers have been air-lifted out of the Big East River due to hypothermia in August. The route is NOT recommended for beginners.

Stay safe out there, and paddle at a pace that’s right for you :) 07/22/2024

Check out Chris and Julia's amazing unsupported “expedition-style” paddle on the 422km Meanest Link route in Algonquin Park (without support crews, food drops or help on route). They've done it 4 times now and every year they keep on beating their own records!

Feeling the anxiety of not having something for that ultra endurance adventure paddler in your life?? We just had a cancellation so this Kisiskâciwan could easily fill the void, ease your tensions and eliminate the "it was the canoes fault excuse"!!

The Yukon 1000 Canoe Race starts this morning (1000 mile race down the Yukon river). Wish the best to all the racers but especially Carmen and Crispin paddling their KCC canoe! Follow the race live!

Welcome back to Canoe team, Carmen and Crispin! 🇨🇦

These two Yukon locals were another team to succumb to COVID last year, so have a fair few months of preparation time in the bank ⌛️

💁🏽‍♀️ To enter the Yukon 1000 both team members must submit information about their skills, experience, first aid knowledge and most importantly what their knowledge gaps are and how they plan to address them before the race.
