Sunday May 24th I will be at from 11am - 1pm. Calgary friends come out for some good food and live music. New songs, old songs, familiar songs.

The tragic story of the destructive forces of alcohol in some people’s lives. This story was relayed to me by a lady I worked with many years ago. And yet, through the grace of God she was able to find her way out of that darkness. The present moment is always an opportunity to change our lives for the better. If I make better choices what will my life be like From Now On?

Many years ago I worked in a nursing home. On break one day a lady I worked with relayed this story to me. Not quite sure how the conversation came up but the story was sad. Even sadder is how prevalent the theme of alcohol destroying lives is in our society. I went home from work and this song wrote itself very quickly. I still feel the emotion of it when I listen all these years later. If it resonates with you in some way leave me a comment.

My older brother was in a rock band in Prince George BC. I was ten years younger but I had a desire to be in a band with him when I got older. His band, Broken Hill, inspired me to write and perform music. Apart from a brief stint playing music together when I was old enough, fate had something else in mind. My brother moved farther north to Mackenzie for work and to raise a family. Years later this song came to me as a reflection on that period.

Back in the day this song was in regular rotation on Star 98.3 out of Chilliwack BC. This was back when the station was a local Fraser Valley station. I met with John Oliver the host and he lived the song and started to play it. It was pretty cool to have a song on the radio. Have a fresh listen, subscribe, like and share.
