Hi, I’m Taylor.
I’m an artist building a private island resort in Belize and painting the largest artwork collection of my career for the hotel.

I’ve never built a resort before. I’ve never created a cohesive body of work at this scale.

But for the past 3 years, I’ve poured 1,095 days and thousands of hours into this dream anyway.

This was either going to be the greatest adventure of my life…or the most expensive mistake I’ve ever made.

I created artwork for rooms I’d never seen.
We faced delays, costly mistakes, and nearly lost the island entirely.

I traveled between 4 states and 2 countries almost every month. All for the chance to prove that saying yes is worth the risk.

If this journey proves anything, it’s that extraordinary things are built by ordinary people.

Because this isn’t just about building a resort or painting, it’s about discovering who you become when you you choose the harder path. 🧔

Saying yes to your crazy dream proves that possibility exists outside the boundaries we set for ourselves. Most people spend their lives negotiating with fear. Waiting to feel ready. Waiting for certainty. Waiting for a guarantee. But courage comes before clarity, and there will never be ā€œperfectā€ conditions.

I’ve never built a resort before (let alone in another country). I’ve never created a cohesive body of artwork. But for the past 3 years, I’ve poured 1,095 days and thousands of hours into this wild dream anyway.

This was either going to be the greatest adventure of my life…or the most expensive mistake I’ve ever made.

All for the chance to prove that saying yes is worth the risk.

If this journey proves anything, it’s that I don’t need all the answers. I just need to trust that clarity reveals itself along the way.

I left this handwritten message in a bottle. For you. For me. For whoever needed the reminder that the hardship and adventure on the way is worth it all. 🧔

It’s been 4 months since I painted. I could feel myself itching to paint, but I allowed every little excuse to get in the way.

Then I saw was hosting an in person workshop in Sarasota, Florida with two of my favorite artists. I knew I HAD to go.

I said yes before I could talk myself out of it and bought a ticket. I didn’t check my schedule. Didn’t check flights. Hotels. Nothing. Just a big ā€œYESā€ and I’ll figure the rest out.

And I’m so glad I did.

I showed up scared, nervous, and feeling quite rusty… but the experience was so enriching, I’m still blown away.

I got to paint alongside 15 other artists, learn from two of my favorite artists and finally meet my MAI teammates I’ve only seen via Zoom for the last three years. Seeing them in real life was surreal and so fun!

This past week reminded me to be bold and take the leap. Invest in the thing that lights you up because it pays you back in ways you can’t measure.

If you’ve been putting off the thing you love because you’re ā€œbusyā€ or timing isn’t right or don’t have the perfect conditions, let this be the moment you stop negotiating with yourself and just take the leap. 😊

Thank You to Matt Massey & Taylor

The Holy Family School community extends heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Matt Massey and his fiancƩe, Taylor, for their thoughtful donation of school supplies. Their generous contribution was shared with two Infant One classes, and the Preschool. Also, some school supplies and school bags were distributed to students from Standards 4, 5, and 6.

Principal Ms. Barbara Nunez joins the staff, students, in saying a big thank you for supporting our children’s education and helping to equip them for success in the classroom.

Matt and Taylor are friends of Hopkins, and continuous visitors who fell in love with our Hopkins Community.
