CDF continues its work of engaging adolescents and equipping them to make better decisions and to strengthen community responses against adolescent pregnancy in Belize.

CDF’s work in engaging families and communities to address the underlying issues leading to violence against women and contributing to teen pregnancy continued this past weekend with activities with adolescents themselves. Adolescence is a time of change and growth but also a time of challenges for many young people. Building safe spaces for them and creating an enabling environment for our young people is important. Provide guidance and information and let them ask questions and help them to develop the tools for better decision making. They are under a lot of pressure but with the support of caring adults they will navigate adolescence successfully

Women have an important role in shaping families, communities and also how teenage girls see themselves and the life choices they make. Our sessions with the women from San Antonio and Cristo Rey this week have been impactful. It is encouraging to see women wanting to break barriers for girls and lay a better foundation for them than they had. Ending the violence against women and girls that contribute to adolescent pregnancy, requires breaking cycles and these women we ready ❤️.

Ending violence against women and girls requires community interventions that equip parents, teachers and women to address issue like teen pregnancy. Last week and this week CDF continues its community collaborations in communities in the Cayo District. The sessions have been fruitful, parents and teachers have expressed gratitude for the strategies shared and women have expressed gratitude for the space spaces created by the activities, to her answers and share their needs.

CDF is thankful for our community partners in Cayo who are collaborating with us to better equip community leaders to address the underlying issues leading to teenage pregnancy such as sexual abuse and inadequate information on sexual and reproductive health.

Happening now in Valley of Peace. Community sensitization fair at the Central Park. Free blood sugar and blood pressure checks, health information from the community health worker and information on child safety and prevention of human trafficking

World Day Against Human Trafficking is observed on July 30th. This year the theme “Trapped Behind the Scam” reminds of the dangers posed by online platforms and online work which can become recruiting mechanisms for human trafficking. Be alert to the risks.
