Today marks the first stop in a nation-wide school outreach series under the CEO Caucus Replanting Program, which, through the Greening Belize initiative, aims to plant 1 million trees by the year 2035. The Ministry of Sustainable Development, Climate Change and Solid Waste Management launched the activity today at Our Lady of Fatima RC School in Roaring Creek. The program engages students through planting activities, waste separation, and environmental education. The school visits are the first in a series scheduled across the country which are set to take place every month. CEO in the Ministry, Milagro Matus, explained that the program is designed to go beyond tree planting alone, as it focuses on empowering the youth as future custodians of the environment.

Belizean Activist, Jeremy Enriquez, has filed a Freedom of Information request with the Elections and Boundaries Department, seeking details into the redistricting process. In an interview with the media earlier this year, the Prime Minister announced that the Government would be undertaking a redistricting exercise to be completed in 2026. Enriquez says that half the year is over and there has been no update from the Government. On Tuesday, June 9th, Enriquez filed a Freedom of Information request with the Elections and Boundaries dept, inquiring if any progress has been made regarding redistricting. In accordance with the Freedom of Information Act, the Elections and Boundaries Dept, since receiving the request, has 14 days to indicate how theyโll respond to Enriquez.

It has been revealed that over the past five years, $1.7 Million worth of contracts were given to the sister of former Minister of National Defence & Border Security, and the current Minister of Home Affairs, Oscar Mira. Leaked Smartstream screenshots show that between December 2020 and August 2025, Miraโs sister, Jenny Shubra Mira received approximately $1.7 Million dollars, mostly from the Ministry of Defence. It is believed that the contracts were awarded to Mira for vegetables. Majority of the payments made to Miraโs sister were under $10,000.00, meaning the payments escaped oversight from the Ministry of Finance. Today, we asked Miraโs Cabinet-colleague, Louis Zabaneh for his thoughts on the leaked contracts. While Minister Zabaneh tiptoed around the reports of acquisitions surrounding Mira, he did say that as a sitting Minister, he frequently reminds his staff to do their jobs with integrity, as they are positioned to serve the public and not themselves.

His passing leaves a profound void not only within the media fraternity but throughout Belize, where his contributions to music, broadcasting, and national culture touched generations. Our journalist, whom Bro Fem used to refer to as , โmi lee breddaโ, Ljay Wade, files the following report
