📚STORY TIME📚 In honour of St. George’s Caye Day, please join us as we listen to Jayden Chaneb as he reads the children’s book “Father and Son”. This story is about an African American father and son doing everyday things together. The book is perfectly complemented by the lush, exquisite illustrations of world renowned Gullah painter Jonathan Green. Miss Bertie’s Hopkins Community Library believes in and encourages young readers because this skill is vital for developing essential language and cognitive skills, such as expanding vocabulary, enhancing concentration, and improving critical thinking. Today makes it 43 years since our jewel was granted independence from Britain, who once colonized the country in the 1600s. You will observe Belizeans far and wide display their patriotism and celebrate with friends and family. There will be many community parades happening today.
