On behalf of Programme For Belize,
We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year ๐๐!
The Rio Bravo Conservation and Management Area (RBCMA), managed by Programme for Belize (PfB), is once again facing a severe threat from wildfires. This 260,000-acre protected area is a vital part of the Selva Maya and a critical refuge for Belizeโs rich biodiversity.
During the dry season, firesโoften human-induced from illegal hunting or escaped agricultural burnsโdestroy the forest, jeopardizing the habitats of endangered species like the jaguar, and reversing decades of vital conservation work.
Our dedicated Programme for Belize rangers are the first responders on the ground, patrolling tirelessly to spot fires from the 60-foot Fire Lookout Tower and suppressing the flames before they can spread out of control.
They need our help to keep this critical work going!
Hereโs How You Can Help Protect the Rio Bravo:
REPORT: If you see any uncontrolled fires in forest reserves or suspicious activity, immediately report it to the Forest Department's at +501-822-2079
SHARE: Please share this video and message to raise awareness about the constant threat to one of Belizeโs most important protected areas.
Let's stand with Programme for Belize to protect the Rio Bravo for generations to come!
