In partnership with Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST), we are excited to announce fully funded PhD scholarship opportunities for the 2026/2027 Academic Year.

The programme seeks to support doctoral research aligned with Botswana’s National Research Priorities, contributing to innovation, sustainability and the country’s socio-economic development.

Understanding what a scholarship is:
1. Scholarships are awards given for excellence or other criteria to cover part or all costs of one’s study.
2. Scholarships pay be partial (covering part of costs, most of the time only part of tuition)
3. Scholarships may be full (covering all expenses, at times including air fares and living expenses)
Over 90% of scholarships available are partial.
And we can often guarantee to an extent, these partial awards.
Fully funded on the other hand are highly competitive. We will never guarantee you a full scholarship as we are not the ones awarding it.

Effective August 1, 2026, the U.S. Department of State will realign routine visa services in Gaborone to a regional visa hub. Citizens and residents of these countries who wish to apply for a visa on or after August 1, 2026, must schedule an appointment and pay the required visa fee at the appropriate designated Nonimmigrant Visa locations or designated Immigrant Visa locations.

Botswana national/resident non-immigrant visa applicants must visit the U.S. Consulate General Johannesburg website to complete an application, schedule a visa appointment online, and complete visa processing in Johannesburg.

The U.S. Department of State is realigning visa operations in Africa to regional hubs, part of a long-standing Department practice that strengthens national security by promoting more uniform screening, vetting, and adjudication standards, as well as improves efficiency.
