We are thrilled to announce that Sowa Clinic hosted its FIRST EVER Teleretinal Screening! This marks another significant step in our mission to improve retinal screening across Botswana.

What’s the objective of Mpona?
Our goal is simple yet impactful: to provide retinal screening services to patients across Botswana—whether they live in remote settlements, rural areas, villages, or towns—without requiring them to travel long distances for this essential test.

From Sowa, we aim to extend this service to other villages etc

We’re thrilled to continue making strides in eye health as Nata hosts its FIRST EVER !!! TELE RETINAL SCREENING!!! This initiative is bringing advanced eye screening closer to our community, helping detect conditions like diabetic retinopathy early and preventing potential vision loss.

Using state-of-the-art technology, high-quality images of the retina are captured and analyzed remotely by specialists. This process ensures faster diagnosis, reduced wait times, and improved access to care for everyone in need.

Day 1 of TELE-RETINAL SCREENING !!!

Today marks a historic moment as Gweta hosted its first-ever teleretinal screening! This groundbreaking initiative brings advanced eye SCREENING closer to our community, ensuring early detection of diabetic retinopathy and other eye conditions.

Teleretinal screening uses cutting-edge technology to capture high-quality retinal images, which are then analyzed by specialists remotely. This innovative approach improves access to care, reduces wait times, and helps prevent vision loss through timely diagnosis and treatment.

It has been a huge milestone to complete the MPONA innovative eye screening solution pilot, which was conducted at Block 6 Diabetic Clinic of excellence, under approval by the Ministry of Health Botswana.
