Total enrolment stood at 60,287 students, with 54,730 in higher education institutions and 5,557 in vocational education institutions. Female students accounted for 60% of total enrolment, with stronger female representation in higher education than in TVET institutions and brigades.
Botswana continues to align with the global trend of a reversal of the gender gap in education, where female participation now exceeds male participation. While this reflects progress in access and inclusion for women, it also raises important policy questions about male participation, retention, and long-term labour market equality.
