Reading: 2 Kings 2:1-10

💫 Brethren this passage teaches us about persistence, spiritual hunger, preparation and inheritance. We see Elisha who refused to leave Elijah even when given several opportunities to turn back. His determination showed that he understood the importance of staying close to what God was doing. So I ask you this child of God, are you standing close to what God is doing right now in this season or are you constantly thinking about turning back to your old ways where you felt comfortable and at ease? I say to you, look ahead of you and not what you have lef go and allow God to mold you while you stay close to Him and what He is doing.

💫 As you continue to read this passage you will notice how they travelled from Gilgal to Bethel, Jericho and finally across the Jordan, Elisha remained committed despite every test and obstacle. When Elijah asked what he desired, Elisha requested a double portion of his spirit. This showed that he desired not material possessions but the spiritual empowerment and responsibility needed to continue the work. I say to you child of God, if you stay close to God regardless of how the journey may look, you will receive a double portion of blessings. God will multiply your blessings because of how you were patient and determined to reach the end of a challenging journey. Do not lose hope when you are facing hurdles of life, hold onto God and you will receive what is truly meant for you.

💫 Brethren, this passage reminds us that God prepares us before entrusting us with greater responsibility. Elisha's journey required commitment, patience, courage, and faith. His persistence positioned him to receive the mantle from Elijah and he stepped into the next season of his calling. You too child of God, be persistent and committed in whatever journey you are in right now. Be faithful until the end and you will be rewarded with what truly belongs to you. Do not give up in the middle of the journey. Stay close to God and stay close to God.
