My name is Raymond Mapena, and I am becoming a Leadership and Self-Development Guru.

This is inspired by Netflix's One Piece series , where a focused young man kept repeating " I'm going to be King of the Pirates" to everyone he met. These are the qualities about him that I also possess:

☑️ Leaders believe in themselves
Luffy was ridiculed by many, even those around him—his granddad among others. But he kept saying, “I’m going to be King of the Pirates no matter what.” You cannot convince people to believe in something you don’t believe in. It starts with you as the leader, and the pack will follow.

☑️ Leaders help others realize their dreams
The part that impressed me the most was when Captain Luffy asked his team members about their dreams. He was interested in their desires, not only his own. He even made a plan to help them achieve their dreams. Don’t call yourself a leader if you are selfish. As leaders grow, they should be interested in the growth of their team members.

☑️ Leaders have a vision
Captain Luffy believed there was a place with hidden treasure, and he was ready to sacrifice everything to reach it. He had not seen the place, but he believed it existed and that he would find it. Vision is seeing further than your eyes can reach. Leaders have a vision—if you don’t have one, then you are not yet a leader.

☑️ Leaders motivate
Another scene I liked the most was when Captain Luffy refused to leave Nami behind, even though she had betrayed him before. He did everything in his power to make sure she rejoined them in their pursuit. Zoro was also injured and could have been a burden, but Luffy refused to leave him behind and found help until he was healed. Leaders motivate, inspire, and care for their team.

☑️ Leaders sacrifice
There are countless sacrifices made by Captain Luffy—some were extreme and left the team shocked. Leaders should possess this trait: sacrifice more than anyone else. Working late, waking up early—doing whatever it takes for the dream to be achieved.

Lastly, I loved the part where he laughed in the face of adversity. He was a carefree guy who just wanted his belly filled and a way forward toward his dream. At times, he would laugh even when they were amidst waves and challenges. This demonstrated faith—that no matter what, they would overcome.
