His Eminence Sangay Loday Rinpoche is renowned as SHONGPHU RINPOCHE. He is Dungsey of Zhingshey Chabjee Dekiling Rinpoche, a great master of Longchen Nyingthik, Nyingmapa lineage. He is great living Buddha in Bhutan.
Chabjee Dhampa Shongphu Rinpoche used to say "I like ride in a Bolero Car. I feel very comfortable in the Bolero Car."

Lama Sonam Zangpo
It is with deep sorrow that we share the untimely passing of Lama Sonam Zangpo, titled as Tshampa Sonam Zangpo who tragically lost his life in a car accident way to Thimphu on 16th April 2026 at Lobesa, Wangdue Dzongkhag. He was a devoted disciple of both Dekiling Rinpoche and Shongphu Rinpoche, and also the son-in-law of Shongphu Rinpoche.
It is another great loss for the Shongphu community.
Tshampa Sonam Zangpo will be remembered for his humility, dedication, and a great faith in Shongphu Rinpoche and people of Shongphu. His loss is deeply felt and respected by his disciples, Shongphu community, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his soul attain peace and may his spiritual journey continue towards enlightenment.

The inaugural meeting of the first phase of the Mardung Foundation and Management for Shongphu Rinpoche took place at the MoH Conference Hall in Thimphu, dated 7th February, 2026 initiated by Mr. Kinzang Wangdi, CEO of Weozer Events.
Almost all civil servants from Shongphu and Chaling attended the first-phase Mardung
Foundation and Management meeting.
The second-phase meeting will subsequently be conducted with civil servants from Changmi Chiwog and the remaining chiwogs.

Lama Nangsay Loday offered his prayers to his Yabjee Dhampa HH Shongphu Rinpoche. He bowed in deep respect, reflecting on the wisdom and compassion that Rinpoche shared throughout his life.
