The Bhutan National Legal Institute (BNLI), in collaboration with the Social Justice Initiative Club of Jigme Singye Wangchuck School of Law, successfully conducted a nationwide legal advocacy program titled
The initiative was launched as a heartfelt tribute to commemorate the 70th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ ๐๐ผ๐๐ฟ๐๐ต ๐๐ฟ๐๐ธ ๐๐๐ฎ๐น๐ฝ๐ผ Jigme Singye Wangchuck, an extraordinary environmental visionary whose timeless wisdom, compassion, and farsighted leadership have indelibly shaped Bhutanโs destiny.
Rooted in His Majestyโs enduring legacy of environmental stewardship, ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฃ๐๐๐ญ ๐๐๐๐ aims to empower Bhutanese youth, particularly members of School Law Clubs, with a foundational understanding of environmental and climate law. The program seeks to nurture a new generation of community-based climate advocates and legal literacy agents who are equipped to translate legal understanding into meaningful local action.
The program further aims to simplify and disseminate climate-related legal frameworks across Bhutan, ensuring that young citizens grasp the legal dimensions of environmental protection and sustainable development. By engaging all 53 School Law Clubs nationwide, the program also endeavors to create a dynamic network of trained student advocates who can contribute to policy dialogues, advance climate justice, and amplify grassroots legal perspectives.
The first phase of ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฃ๐๐๐ญ ๐๐๐๐ has reached approximately ๐๐๐ students (199 male and 325 female) from 22 School Law Clubs, with the second phase scheduled for ๐๐๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐๐๐ฒ, ๐๐จ๐ฏ๐๐ฆ๐๐๐ซ ๐, ๐๐๐๐.
On this auspicious occasion, the entire fraternity of School Law Clubs across Bhutan expresses its deepest gratitude and reverence to ๐๐ข๐ฌ ๐๐๐ฃ๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฒ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐ซ๐๐๐ญ ๐

Day 2 of the Training of Trainers under Project CLAW marks the second and final phase of preparing our future facilitators.
Participants explored the main topics and advocacy materials that will guide this project forward. They were introduced to YAG and equipped with advocacy skills to engage their communities effectively. Along with this, facilitators were familiarised with the core materials and the advocacy script, ensuring they are ready to champion climate law awareness with clarity and confidence.
Project CLAW is about more than training. It is about building strong voices that can transform awareness into action and bring climate law into everyday conversations. This is how we build wisdom, inspire change, and prepare a new generation of advocates.
We are grateful to our partners Sherig Bhutan and UNICEF Bhutan for their support in empowering youth leaders to take climate justice forward.

From Project Medusa to Project CLAW, the Social Justice Initiative is stepping into bigger and bolder change.
With Medusa, we addressed PSEAH (Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment) and proved that one project can create impact. Now we are taking the momentum forward with Project CLAW, focusing on climate law for awareness and wisdom.
Phase One of our Training of Trainers is complete, and this is only the beginning. We are not stopping at one project, we are building two, creating space for safety, justice, sustainability, and knowledge. We are coming strong with the next phases.
We are proud to work with Sherig Bhutan and UNICEF Bhutan in shaping a future where awareness meets action and where youth voices are equipped to lead change.
Stay tuned, because more is coming.
