Waypoint of the Week: Causeway Coast, Northern Ireland

This one fits perfectly if you like road trips, coastlines, castle ruins and places that feel a little less obvious.

The Causeway Coast is one of those routes where the drive is part of the trip.

You’ve got Giant’s Causeway, Dunluce Castle, Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, Ballintoy Harbour, The Dark Hedges, Portrush and plenty of small coastal stops along the way.

The can’t-miss experience is Giant’s Causeway.

It’s dramatic, unique, easy to build a route around, and exactly the kind of place that makes a trip feel more memorable than just checking off another city.

I’d build it as a 3 to 5 day road trip from Belfast, or as part of a bigger Ireland, Scotland or UK itinerary.

Trip idea: Cancun to Belize road trip 🇲🇽🇧🇿

With both Cancun and Belize showing strong flight options from Winnipeg lately, this is exactly the kind of trip idea I’d start looking at.

Instead of just booking one beach destination, you can build a warm-weather route with a little bit of everything.

Start with Cancun as the gateway.
Head south to Bacalar for lagoon stays, kayaks, slow mornings and boutique hotels.
Cross into Belize for reefs, islands, jungle, caves and Mayan ruins.
Add Caye Caulker or Ambergris Caye for island time.
Finish with San Ignacio if you want a little more adventure built in.
