Option Language Solutions

Since becoming a father in 2013, I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on my ancestors. I often think about my grandparents and further generations, but I know very little about their lives—what they enjoyed or felt, as these topics weren’t deeply discussed by my parents. I regret not investigating more, but I realize they might not have known much either. I wonder if my children, or future grandchildren, will be in the same position, longing to understand their heritage. That’s why I want to leave behind a legacy for them, such as a book documenting the stories of their ancestors. Many people don’t leave such legacies, mainly because you have to be determined, but I believe these stories can help us understand who we are and why things happen in our lives.

Instead of writing a book, I decided to create something more modern—travel video diaries. Inspired by motorcycle videos on YouTube, I began documenting my trips, both solo and with my family. It’s become a therapeutic outlet, a way to escape the fast-paced life. I enjoy editing these videos, always excited about the next one. I hope that one day my descendants will watch them, reflecting on their heritage and gaining insight into their past.

I often wonder if anyone will watch these videos and connect with my story, just as I would love to see something similar from my own ancestors. I hope these videos inspire future generations and help them better understand where they come from. Although I’m unsure if platforms like YouTube will still exist, I believe digital files will always be shared and preserved. I create these videos in English to reach a wider audience, including friends and family who don’t speak Portuguese. I continue to learn throughout the process and hope these videos will hold meaning in the future. Thank you to anyone who watches them!
