🧪 Chemistry curriculum: what's next for England? #6

Climate change and sustainability matter to young people.

Our research found that 81% of young people believe climate change and sustainability should be taught in school or college. Yet many students described current coverage as “minimal”, “limited” or “not talked about enough”.

Chemistry has an important role to play in helping learners understand global challenges and the solutions being developed to address them. Teachers also told us they would like to see more sustainability and climate change content included within chemistry education.

As the chemistry curriculum consultation approaches, we're continuing to explore the themes shaping the discussion about what comes next.

📢 How do you help students connect chemistry with real-world environmental challenges?
