Alto Beni Development Project
Development of Bolivian Alto Beni Valley in the 1960's bringing Andean indigenous settlers from the Altiplano to the subtropical valleys.
The Alto Beni Development project was begun in 1961 with the goal of moving Andean indigenous settlers from the highlands to the tropics of Bolivia. At the time it was the first large scale planned developement by the Bolivian government. Planning and Implementation was the responsibility of the Corporacion Boliviana de Fomento, and Walter Gonzalez was the project director.
