Representing a diverse cross section of the community, CURB provides a safe place for real and respectful dialogue about race and works for its elimination.

Call: +1 441 707 1496 The challenges of facing race and racial issues in Bermuda is as important as it was in the volitile early days of Bermuda's civil rights movement starting in 1959. CURB's work continues as we seek to explore ways of uncovering ongoing systemic racial issues, issues that have existed in our history and still plague our society today.

This week’s key was found at Mitchell House! 🔑

This was the home of William Archer, a man born into enslavement who went on to build a life of success after gaining his freedom. Alongside his wife Isabella, he ran a business and accumulated significant wealth at a time when opportunities were limited.

Their story reflects resilience, determination, and the strength of Bermuda’s free Black community in the 19th century.

Thank you to everyone who is participating in discovering Bermuda, one clue at a time!

Attention Treasure Hunters! This week’s key has been found (by a second time winner, no less)!

This week’s key was hidden at the Sally Bassett Statue. Sally Bassett was an enslaved Bermudian woman executed in 1730. Her story is one of resistance, courage, and moral conviction. Today, she is remembered by many as a national heroine.

Her statue faces the rising sun each day, intentionally turned away from the centers of power, symbolizing defiance and dignity.

Her legacy continues to spark important conversations about justice, history, and how we remember the past.

Thank you to everyone who is participating in discovering Bermuda, one clue at a time!

If you have not found a key yet, do not give up hope. There are four keys left to be found! Make sure you are listening to for clues, and following us here in case you miss them!

The 3rd key has been found!

This week’s key was hidden at the Clyde Best mural, a powerful tribute to a Bermudian legend who broke barriers and transformed football.

Clyde Best was the first Black football superstar in modern England, playing for West Ham during the 1960s and 70s. He faced open racism on the pitch but responded with excellence, scoring 58 goals in 218 appearances.

His courage paved the way for every Black footballer who came after him.

This mural stands as a reminder: representation matters.

Excellence speaks. Legends are made by those brave enough to be first.

Congratulations to our winner!

This week’s key has been found at the ‘We Arrive’ Statue!

In 1835, a ship carrying enslaved Africans entered Bermuda’s waters. Through legal action led by the Friendly Society, 78 individuals were brought before the court and given a choice, freedom or return. Seventy-seven chose freedom.

This statue marks the place where they first stepped onto Bermudian soil as free people, beginning a new chapter in their lives, and in Bermuda’s history.

A powerful moment of courage and change.

This week’s key has been found, and the location was the Rubber Tree.

This site was once a burial ground for Black Bermudians who were not permitted to be buried in Anglican churchyards alongside white residents. In life, they were separated. Even in death, that separation continued.

Though the ground was deconsecrated over 50 years ago, it remains a place of remembrance today, marked to honor those who were laid to rest there and to ensure their story is never forgotten.

Stay tuned. Next week, a new clue drops!

It’s officially on, Bermuda. 🔑

If you missed the memo: we’ve stashed eight keys around the island, each one hidden at a place that shaped this country but never quite made it into the textbook you got in school. Every week for the next eight weeks, a new clue drops on The Daily Hour first thing in the morning, and we’ll repost it right here for anyone who misses the show.

This is week one. If you’ve been waiting for a sign to lace up your sneakers, this is it.

Here’s the riddle:

Where roots remember what walls once refused,
And silence now speaks for voices once denied.
A sacred ground, no longer blessed,
Yet marked so none forget who rests.

Think you know it? Go take a walk. If you spot the key, hold onto it and give the CURB office a call to confirm. We’ll fill you in, you’ll claim your prize, and we’ll tell you the full story of the ground you’re standing on.

Keep your ear on The Daily Hour every morning!
