Memory as a notion and a cognitive process plays a significant role in the re-membrance of historical sacred and settled landscapes in our contemporary society. And we most warmly endorse and recommend this wonderful initiative:

The Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation, in collaboration with the Huntington's Disease Association of Cyprus and the Unlocking Sacred Landscapes Research Network, is launching a photography exhibition by Adamos Papantoniou today, on July 9th. The exhibition will be supplemented by a brief presentation by Dr Athanasios Vionis (Univ. of Cyprus), titled "Settled and Sacred Landscapes of Cyprus". The exhibited photographs are collectible and will be available for sale with the exclusive purpose of supporting the Association.

CLAH STAFF PUBLICATIONS: Borges' Classics by Laura Jansen
Laura Jansen's monograph Borges' Classics (Classics After Antiquity series, CUP) is now out. The study was undertaken during a Leverhulme Research Fellowship in 2015-16 and greatly assisted by the advice and expertise of colleagues at IGRCT and Bristol CLAH. The book explores the oeuvre of the Argentine author Jorge Luis Borges as a radically globalized model for reimagining our relationship with the classical past, and combines the latest approaches and tools of the Classical Tradition and Comparative Literature. There are plans to present the book at the Argentine Embassy in London this autumn and at the National Library of Buenos Aires, where Borges was once director between 1955-73. It is anticipated that the book will be translated in Spanish next year.
