Animated characters in a live setting require thorough planning. To stage the shots for the Little Lions, we used 3D printed figurines for framing, to test focal lengths and light. At the same time they function as a perfect reference for post production. All this preparation ensures we can focus on the character acting; the craft that we are truly passionate about ❤️ Together with animated loops and static poses we built a handy toolkit that can be used across multiple media.

Moving the Little Lions into 3D allows us to bring them a step closer to people. Maybe even two steps closer! Character acting is a craft that we are truly passionate about, because not only does it amplify the spirit, it makes them move with intent and motivation. The Delhaize Little Lions evolved from 2D to 3D through craft. Swipe to see sketches, models, posing and animated loops.

We focused on shapes and proportions that build on the 2D characters we designed 3 years ago, adding volume, texture, weight and light. Not merely as decoration, but to give them even more character and expression. This adds credibility. It’s why you can imagine holding them in your hand.. Almost! It’s in their movement. It’s in their eyes. It’s where every detail counts to connect both to the brand and the viewer in an authentic way.
