Look what I did 🫣
So first of all have been sick for an entire week and followed the recommendation of Cindy to go and run outside ☺️
It was months ago that I went running outside but OMG did that felt good.
It’s like a fire lighted up again inside of me… I wanna run more! 💪👀

Here we are, a new week and hopefully a better start, but to be honest I’m not sure yet.
This morning everything felt pretty good with my lower back but during the run it started acting up again.
Plan was 5K but stopped at 4K to be on the safe side 🤷♂️
After the run it still feels a bit off but I’m trying to take some rest, really wanna get back into it but the body isn’t really working with me on this 😒
Hope everyone else is feeling a lot better!

December is the build up month… today did a first small workout on the treadmill 👌
Progression run with a 3Km warm up at 10Km/h then added 2km/h per extra km.
That last one at 14Km/h was a tough one but wanted to get my heart rate up and the legs to feel the effort ☺️
Also now I get a bit of an idea where I’m at currently, and to be honest the progress is really good 👍
Plan is to complete a total of 30km this week.
Last week was around 27,5Km.
Feeling great and getting more and more motivated!

Final run of the week, decided to run outside and test how that feels, feet feel pretty good but condition feels off…
Could also be because it’s the 2nd day in a row that I’m not feeling great 🤷♂️
Original plan for today was to participate in the Brussels half marathon but in the end made a smart decision and just try and do a 5K outside, bringing my weekly total to 15Km, which is the highest it’s been in weeks.
Patience is key, I don’t have any real goals anymore for this year so going to further build up nice and easy to hopefully have a great start next year with a good base 🤞

2nd 5K run of the week, added a bit faster pace today at km 3 and 5.
Feeling pretty good to be honest, still wondering if I still would feel good when doing a 10K or more to be honest.
And still running inside as well (it’s getting cold outside, damn 😱)
Perhaps can try it on Sunday? 🤔
Also still questioning if I should participate for the half marathon in Brussels, I’m worried about getting pain half way through and then I know I’ll be too stubborn to stop.
Since everything is slowly going better I also don’t want to mess it up 🫣

Look at that, a 5K, well that’s been a while.
AND… it felt great 😍
Oh yeah getting the feeling back wanting to run more, personally I also feel that I need to run more, I need the escape from always being busy with 101 things 🫣
Sunday it’s the Brussels Marathon and to be honest I’m getting the vibe to run the half 🤔
A full marathon is not possible, I’m not ready for it but I think for the half I should be fine…
Letting it marinate for the next days and will see during the weekend… stay tuned 🤞

3K treadmill run…
Still felt a bit uncomfortable at first but once warmed up it felt pretty good.
For the moment prefer to run on the treadmill to not place unnecessary pressure on the side of my foot.
Going to try and do a total of 10K this week (that was the goal last week but didn’t succeeded 🫣).
After the run the foot also felt normal so there is progress, the Brussels marathon is closing in rapidly but I’m not going to run it, doing that at this moment will set me back a lot, I’m pretty sure about that 😕
Oh well, let’s try and remain positive 🤞

The recovery path…
It’s not always going as expected but I’ll get there 🤞
Sunday did a 5K which started great but the last 1-2km were not comfortable.
Today decided to keep it shorter and use the treadmill, felt good not any discomforts, want to run more 😢
I need to stop making excuses also and do more shorter runs to get back into it.
Let’s go! 🫡

It’s now the morning after and I’m officially injured!
Even walking is proving to be extremely challenging…
It’s not so much swollen so it’s hopefully just a bruise inside that needs a few days to heel 🤞
Got to wait and see…
The big question is, will I be able to continue my run streak of +2 years (on September 27th it was 2 years 🥺).

About Berlin…
Not what I had in mind 🥺
First of all it was pretty cold, not only before the race but also during the race I felt it a bit chilly on occasions.
I started off strong and well under control at a pace of around 5min/km with an average HR of 170.
Acceptable and not blowing up 👌
Around half way something happened and I got heavy feet, fatigue started to kick in more and more.
There was running, there was walking, there was some swearing, …
I accepted not being able to get under 4 hours, which is the first official marathon where I didn’t made under 4 hours by the way 😢
After the race it was difficult, walking was very hard, it’s becoming more clear hour by hour what’s going on…
I’ve injured my left foot 😡
Do I regret participating? No not at all, it was a beautiful race and experience, and again it was a great lesson…
I need to prepare a whole lot better!
